APBT vs Amstaff DNA ??

Discussion in 'APBT History' started by kiwibilt18, Nov 29, 2020.

  1. Quick question for an article I am writing.
If the APBT was used to establish the AKC breed standard for Amstaffs & the first Amstaffs were Colby dogs, how come DNA testing crowds like "EmbarkDNA" claim they can differentiate between the APBT, SBT & AST ?
    Are they legit ???

I reckon dna testing to figure out the ancestry of all the various dog breeds to be about as valuable as fools gold.... I suspect after the cheque as been cleared they will cheat a lil bit by telling you of the likely culprits (based on historical writings) and add one or two outside exotics just to make you feel like it was money well spent...lol

Essential it's the same question as "what came first, the chicken or the egg....dunno but they both taste nice with a pitch of salt.

  5. The dna testing was done sixty years apart lol.

if you would of dna tested a colby dog and one of the first registard amstaffs the the dna would of been the same.
but if you do that now you got dna whats sixty years apart.
