Bert Sorrells vs. Tatonka Kennels

Discussion in 'APBT Bloodlines' started by sneekypete, Feb 27, 2012.

  1. I was wondering if any one on here knows if Bert is still selling dogs. I am very interested in his line of dogs, but I would like to know if he is even breeding litters anymore. I have looked at the Tatonka dogs recently, and some of them seem to be bred well. There is a litter they are taking deposits on right now that is a repeat breeding of two black and tan dogs that is interesting to me. I have been interested in the black and tan sorrells dogs for a while now, and I would just like to know what people's opinion of them are if they have owned one before or known someone who has.

    Also, I have heard that Bert used a coonhound in his breeding program and that is where the black and tan colors come from.. Any info would help..

    I always figured Bob Villa was a blue nose bully type of guy, who would of thunk!

  8. ... Never heard of Bob Villa, at least not the dogman.. Lol. I wonder about her shipping policy... I have heard that she absolutly does not do shipping, and her site says to call, I might give her a call this evening.. It would be a hell of a trip from Northern California to Florida.. I still would rather have one from Bert or his son just because he is the originator of the strain..

I think my best bet is to give her a call and talk to her.. I will let you guys know what she says..

    my first good dog was from bishop hilliard's breeding, she looked just like sorrells red jerry, she was inbred on hilliard's delilah. if you don't know who delilah is take a look at some of carl mim's pedigrees. these were fantastic dogs.
    the dogs jonie is selling don't like what bert was selling 20 years ago. if i could go back in time i'd feed a few dogs off uncle bud.

  20. Thanks for the responses,

    The Sorrels line of dogs is one that I have always been interested, but never owned one. I remember seeing an old SDJ ad of Bert's that was like Carver's old ads with the names of all his CH's and GRCH's around the edges of the paper and a pedigree of his current favorite stud. From that point on I was intregued and wanted to know more. Most of my dogs have always been Eli/Ironhead in the begining and Jeep/Redboy later on..

    I talked to Joanie this evening and she's really cool and down to earth. I think that if I do get one from her I will pick it up personally. She said that you can bring a pup on the plane and put it under the seat in a skycrate..

    @ Laced;
    I'm up in Arcata in Humboldt.. There are alot of petbulls up this way, just about every transient has one or two.. I make it down to SF once in a while..
