Today i was told in rabbits you can take vanilla extract and put a dab on there nose,
to put other babies in her nest from the other doe,

and she smells vanilla for a few days, then doesn't clue in shes got extra babies, cause she can't smell the other does scent off the new babies,

maybe it will work for your male so maybe he's not so "excited"!? might work never know, I've never tried, just seemed like it might fit the problem?

good luck whatever you try! either way i think he's going to want to do the job!

More than likely he is starting to finish before it even begins, Do you notice any fluid?

Buck gave a good idea, But at the same time I have two thoughts about it and it ranges on each end of the spectrum.

First thought is due to a dogs sensitive nose I am wondering if it will do any good at all, And the second is I wonder if it would inhibit the sense of smell to much where he couldn't pick up the scent and as a result just not pay her much mind.

I honestly haven't encountered this before with dogs, I would think over time the dog may learn to not get so excited but I don't know for sure. This may be a dog where you can only breed him through the use of straws if you think he is worth adding to the breeding program.
