He's used in Lee Robinson's Swinford program, I'm sure he'll be along to answer your questions.

Chief was out of our dogs Captain Skip x Snaps. He was born here and raised here. I like him a TON. Right now, he is in NY. I am in MS...yet still we plan on breeding to him sometime in the future. It is unlikely he will be used in a purebred APBT line unless someone up north studs to him. I say this because I don't even own APBTs anymore. We have moved on to just our Swinford dogs...but we plan on getting a female up to Chief's owner to stick him to.

My advice is if you want to use him, contact me and I can get ahold of Chief's owner. Your bitch will have to be brucelosis negative.

His honest weight in shape was 82# before I sent him to NY...and he was still young then only about 16-18 months old or so I think. If anything, he is bigger now. This owner says he is 90# now I think, but I suspect he could probably lose 5 or so, as I suspect he has a little more "couch" time up there than he had down here. He was always very fit here, as he is a natural self worker. I can get you some pictures of what he was bred to and of the offspring as well. If I don't get them up tomorrow...just remind me should I forget. It has been a long day and I am about ready to call it a night.

I would have to talk to the owner about the stud fee, but I image it would somewhat depend on if you sent the bitch up there, went up yourself, or if you did AI. Which would be most probable??? If I was you, I would recommend going up there or doing AI...as I don't think Chief's current owner has ever bred a dog before. Chief certainly knows what to do himself, but still his owner might need an experienced hand. If he was here still (which at times I wish he was as he was one of my all time favorite APBTs), it would be no problem.

BTW, the picture of him tied to the white gate was taken in NY, and you can tell although he looks good he does have more weight on him there than in the other pictures.

ive seen pictures of him before, but i still cant get over how good looking of a dog he really is, im a big fan of the larger pits. LEE, do you remember by any chance what he weighed at around 3 months? my Little guy right now is 3 months and weighs about 22-23lbs. Hes very fit, not fat at all, even a little rib shows. Hes looking like hes gonna turn out to look like chief, judging by his weight and the way his body is forming.

He grew about 10 pounds per month until 7 months or so then he slowed down to about 5 pounds per month until he reached 80 pounds.I would guess your dog will be 55-60 pounds.

Here are some pictures of the bitch we bred Chief to. Her name Bandit, who was probably the gamest dog I have ever owned desite not being pure APBT. I believe she was a dead game dog...as she never took a step back or even hesitated in anything. She was always forward very hard. She is a half-sister to Chief. Same sire (Sorrells' Captain Skip). Her dam however was a pure EM bitch named Eclipse. The mastiff was a crazy working class dog, which is practically unheard of. Probably only 5 in a 100 EM will work, and I would say only 1 in a 100 or so EM are capable of working as nice as Eclipse did. She was a rare specimen. I know you don't have an interest in the Swinfords, but my point is we were very selective.

So, Bandit would have been 50% APBT and 50% EM. When bred to Chimera's Chief (a pure game bred APBT) the offspring of those two were 75% APBT and 25% EM (Eclipse).

    Bandit...

Here is a photo of Preacher-Man, who is Bandit's littermate brother (meaning also Chief's half brother with the same APBT sire on top, but a different dam...again an EM on bottom).

I have been looking for some pictures of the offspring of Chief and Bandit...which would be 3/4 APBT, but I have only been able to find one picture of one of the males and 2 pictures of one of the females. They looked very much like pure bred APBT but with just a LITTLE BIT more skin just under the neck...kind of like some of the Mayday dogs IMO, but much bigger and stronger. These dogs are insanely tough, forward, and hard shakers when doing PP work. I will try get you some pictures of the males from this breeding...and probably a video of them in action as well. For now though, all I can find is some pictures of them when they were only 10 months old. They too have fillled out a good bit since these photos were taken, so I will update these pictures as well. In the end though, remember...the offspring of Chief all have some EM in them, as he wasn't bred to pure APBTs, but to Swinfords.

This bitch "Reaper" is only 10 months old in this photo and was about 70-75# at this time. She is about 85# now.

Here is her brother Boss, who was about 85# at 10 months in this photo. He is about 100# now, and much fuller.

BTW, given how those Chief x Bandit offspring were bred, they would have been double bred off our former Sorrells' Captain Skip...making a final composition of 50% Skip (APBT), 25% Snaps (APBT), and 25% Eclipse (the EM). If you are interested in seeing the old EM bitch, here is a link to her info. http://www.chimerakennels.com/eclipse.htm She is 9 years old in those pictures though.

  16. Those are definetly some bad ass dogs Lee. I've already told my fiance that the next dog we get is going to be one your swinfords. I just have to wait until all my pits are gone so it will probably be awhile but thats what I want for sure.

seeing as you have owned both breeds. How would you compare a pitbull, for example chief, to a swinford in terms of the field of work you use them for.

  18. I tell you I would really like to get that Razzle Dazzle off of Linebaugh and Chili-Pepper but right now my fiance would kill me if I got another dog.

Thanks for the kind words guys...everyone.

For my field of work...meaning PP work...I prefer the Swinford for three reasons...

    1. power (for quick manstopping ability),
    2. durability (although many APBT are very tough, a bigger dog that is also well put together is simply harder to disable), and
    3. a more consistent mindset for PP work.

This is why we now focus exclusively on the Swinford program.

Some APBTs can do really well...outstanding even...at PP work. But the breed as a whole tends to be more people friendly even to strangers in an owner's absence, which is why so many APBT are stolen.
