colby on game dogs

Yah and get me those recorded percentages that Colby dogs throw low numbers of gameworthy dogs. Who has those records? Ohhh and let me guess a hemphil dog sired redboy too...

If you breed for working purposes you have mostly a solid average in every litter, but to reach this solid average quality it needs time and consequence within every breeding1

even if you are consequently breeding for working purposes you still can have some drawbacks.

On the other hand if you don´t breed and maintain working traits consequently you fail within 3 to 5 generations your whole breeding program would be down and even harder to rebuild especially if you don´t cross high quality dogs into your stock!

So what about working qualities?

Working is competition and how could you determine if you are the creme of the crop if you don´t compare with what others have produced?????

As far as for the Colby dogs, over here in europe I never heard of any successful Colby dog. That doesn´t mean that there are none but we used a lot of other lines over here but I never ran into one that kept Colby dogs.

Some successful lines where formed by Colby dogs but genetically spoken are just the last three to four generations of ancestry within a working dog of importance.

Because of this I often have to smile if the people still referring their dogs for example as Redboy dogs as he is that far back in their peds to have any significant influence on the dog itself!

For example Mayday was a phenomenal match dog, but if you just breed to offspring of Mayday that isn´t of solid quality or even an improvement to him, Mayday could have been the best dog ever lived but the outcome after three or four generations is pure bullshit!

See breeding means improving the breed, so you have to keep as a goal to produce even better dogs in each litter and not resting on what their grandfather or grand grandfathers did!

As my english is pretty bad i hopefully could tell you all what I mean and not making it difficult to follow what I wanted to tell!

 

To say Colby dogs are a complete trash is very Green to say. I only owned two and both were honest hounds( 75% Colby-25% Eli) sold the bitch(male dead game kennel accident) to get a Jeep/RedBoy/Rascal dog(great hound by the way) anyways i was still kinda new back then, but as i learned more about these dogs i wished i kept the bitch to breed into my Jeep dog and Eli dogs. If you look at the old winning dogs alot were Colby/Eli/Carver type crosses. Example Jeep(ColbyxEli) probably the most famous, the key is to find someone who has maintained the line in a working manner and then you could add it to your line. If you were to take it to a Eli dog you would get a tough hound with good air and smarts. Again the key would be to find someone who is maintaining the line, Colby dogs are a pure family of dogs and if you were to add that as a outcross you possibly could get great dogs the lacked very little. I don't run them but if were every to have the chance to get a good bitch u can believe i'm gonna grab her without a second thought and breed that bitch to some good Jeep/RedBoy and Eli type dogs. There are some good ones out there just gotta know where to look. Jmo T.S.K.

there good bad in every line lets put like this you get a dog from 2 grch rom dogs and it turns out to be no better then yer wifes house dog then u will see right or when your champion losses to a scaterbred dog that you never thought had a chance based on his ped alone that is just it hell if we could say this dog is bred like this and this is how he gonna be we should start are own 900 hotline and give paid advice the fact it you have to test to make grades

There are only 1 real Colby Cross here in Europe Condor,s Spike out of JR and his pure Coly Bitch ,you all will be here of him he is the only cross and only pup out that cross that was not done befor whit CH Thunder blood,this Dog can help many Yeard,s.

It is a great book, I read it every now and again. His brother Joe has a book too that I guess is really good, I havent gotta my hands on it yet.

 

grch bloodline or breed to grch itself ? not a hard decision for me lol.

The Real deal dont listen to the hate. Colby was one of the greatest dog man the game has ever known. His legacy was honored by many and his blood survives to this day. These dogs are like the whole package, Intelligent while most are just smart, Will go where many cant and will attain what few ever will. Im in cali and will submit any of my colby dogs to test(no fighting) here is mine 5 mile run pulling 180 lbs the dog will have to finish the last quarter mile faster than the first on command . trust many dogs just dont have what it takes to dig deep for the love of his master and truly finish faster than they begin if that's not game I dont know what is.
Last Colby is synonymous with game over 4 hours on record right oh and whats up with colbys pincher what kind of record was his. Ah just love what u got, but com-on show a lil respect. Loyalty, Intelligence, Game, and some classy moves to boot lol
