My buddy had Nuttal line as well. I kept one for hi once while he was on vacation. That dog went after any and everything. His face looked like your dogs face. Always scuffed up from working. Good looking dogs. S

Nice looking Patterdales, they seem to be of the long rough coat variety. I was just wondering if you have notice any difference in traits from the rough coat patts compared to the short smooth coat patts?

Can't say I've noticed with what I've kept the line I chose to work with from a particular dog tends to frow more broken coated altho some do come smooth I just keep the broken coats as that's what The original dog was like so I try to keep them as much like him as possible but on a average nuttall terriers are usually smooth tight hard coated

Nice dogs and great answer, I first liked the ones that look like minuture bulldogs till I learned about thier origins...
I feel that living in a colder enviroment with higher elevation calls for the broken coats, I suppose if you were at a cooler climate te smoother coats might be a better choice...
Mr.Lightners bulldogs were known to have thicker coat and for the reasons I mentioned I would say evaloution has big part to do with that...

Yes they chill easier with a broken coat so for someone who follows hounds and is driving around on a quad all day in winter or walking on the fells in real bad weather a coats important but for me thats not a problem as I hunt for pleasure of the dogs not for pest control I still like the coat to be hardish and wirey and not to soft I have a smooth bitch small bully looking with a hard coat
