We have owned labs, Rotts and about 5 years ago we inherited a red nosed pit because our son could not have a dog in his apartment. The old Rott was still around at the time and tolerated a young pup in the house fairly well. We told our son that we’d keep the girl until he found a house. Well a year and a half later we were without the old Rott and in love with the red nose female. Although her wild side of life was not what we were used to in a dog, example getting a “cat attack”(that is the idea to run a balls to the walls speed in circles, straight lines, just going nuts!!! But as time went along I realized she liked jogging with me, going for hikes for several days in the mountains, but she does not like sleeping out of doors; what I have found out with this activity is this: a happy pit is a tired pit, a well behaved pit is a worked out pit.

Now she has her own 40,000 sq ft chain linked back yard, two dog beds to sleep on in the bedroom with her own blanket, three coats to wear for the winter months (pit bulls have very little hair and she gets cold), her own dog bowl installed in the mini van to drink out of when the weather is hot, she likes tossed salad with olive oil dressing, and venison sausage, jerky, salmon, trout, in other words if we are eating it it’s good enough for her.

The only negative to owning this dog is the perception people have of the breed and of owners of the breed, not to mention homeowner insurance companies.

And I thought I was crazy! My dog sounds like yours! My mom swears it is because we cannot have anymore children. Maybe she is right. Dixie is my child! Own bed, clothes, I even talk to her like she is my kid, and have conversations, and act is if she is talking back! I go overboard, but hey, pitbulls aren't dogs, they ARE family!

I was so bad once, I was sick, and it was my sons b-day, I didn't go to the store to buy him a cake , but for Dixies b-day, I was sick as well, but I got up and went out to buy b-day hats and cupcakes for all the dogs and us! My son was like"Gee, thanx mom, I know where I stand!!!"

  4. Mine is spoiled rotten too! She has to sleep on the bed with me and my husband, and has to be under the covers with me. She'll sit there a nudge the blanket and whine until i lift them up for her. Also she has to have a hug and give each of us a kiss when we get home, or she gives us an "attitude" normally dirty looks and the cold shoulder :). I call her princess fauna cause she acts like it!

Two square meals a day.....excersised until one of us is too tired......a place to safely sleep. I spoil them on occassion, maybe they will get hot-dog treats, maybe they get to share a pillow with me at night, but first and foremost.....they are DOGS and I treat them as such.

My dogs are not that pampered. THe pups are put in crates at night because they HOG the bed and I can't take it. The old dog has to lie on the floor because she can't make it on stuff anymore. They get fed once in the morning and I try to take them jogging but in my prediciment it's kinda hard.

  7. All 8 of our APBT's are spoiled ROTTEN!!! So is our brand-new litter!!! Ain't nuthin' wrong with that!!!

  8. Though i know it's not the best thing to do, i feed my males leftovers sometimes and when i do this i actually feed them with a fork... so if Steele looks 2 comfortable in his sleeping spot, i just wake him up and feed him right there... he doesn't even have 2 get up! also my dogs do get to sleep in my bed given that they dont smell horribly... and if they do smell horrible, then they take a bath... WITH ME... yes, that does mean i'm showering with them, at the same time... my dogs also get weekly treats like ham hocks, turkey necks, etc and since Diegoh doesn't like cold food (as in straight out of the refridgerator) i have to heat it up so he can eat them... when the dogs do sleep outside, they have huge dog houses that are insulated and when its too cold they sleep inside, with their own seperate individual heaters... and at times id cook for them... and yeah, that's about it :D

Like 14rock said "they are DOGS and I treat them as such."

Buck sleeps indoors on the floor, eats all he wants once a day, gets plenty of exercise, and gets the occassional treat when he does what he is supposed to do. No need to confuse the dog by treating him like he is a human. IMO

My dogs are treated extreamly well. (Althought they are still treated like the working animals they are) They do get special treatment on occasions.... I'm a sucker for puppy birthdays :D I go all out. Wish I could find the pictures of OG's last birthday party LMFAO That was great.
That's right I'm saying it.... Pamper Your Pups. They'll love you for it.
