That was the most ignorant thing I have ever read.
To them, a breaking stick is "A wooden dagger .... (that) was used to make the dogs fighting mad." That absolutely blew my mind. Where the hell do they get this crap?
The dogs were trained to fight because "They're kept just far enough apart on big heavy chains that they can't get loose and fight each other."
Dogs in cages are immediately suspected to be bait dogs. Simply because they are in cages.

    Media bullshit at its worst.

I'll bet you do.....We need to cut the funds HSUS. these ppl need to be put out of jobs!....Can any one pull any strings to have them audditted? Osha inspected? FDA inspected? State board? put the heat on em.....make them accountable.....The excuse of lack of funds is just that.....We must expose them.

Its not the Media on this one it is again the HSUS.

....not much to tear apart when u have a pit in your backyard with a parting stick and a dead dog in the vicinity, unless the entire story is fictional....Sure the media elaborates and makes up it's own theories about scenes like this, but hey if people left nothing for the media to theorize about the world of bulldogs would be in a much better shape than it's in.

fu** peta, bsl and the media. i'm tired of the false facts bout puppy as bait dogs. some ppls get caught up with the law with dogs. but the media create more lies bout the breed. that make ignorence directed toward responsible owner. many own parting stick as a safety tool. what if President Bush owned a pitbull and a parting stick. Does he fight dogs own or is irresponsible??

  9. 99% of this story was bull puckey, but i noticed something diffrent about this woman who worked this case.she said a little bit of truth when talking to the news.

    (1) ''away from the ring, these dogs are good natured''.

(2)''these dogs are sweet, they are all good dogs.it's not the dog it's the people.''

    (3) she said pitbulls are excellent pets, and she will try to get them into a pitbull rescue out of state.

all this is nice for a change, but she still got in there that they may have to be putdown.so only time will tell what actually happens, but i did like that a humane person actually did have something positive to say about the breed even if it was included in another news report to make all pitbull owners out to be monsters.

Ya they were not far from your neck of the woods. Though I don't agree the wooden deal was a dagger but a breaking stick the pit was condeming. Not the kind fo crap we need for our breed that is for sure.
Any way how are you doing? I got some good responce from Delta Pit Bulls Breeders Association. 45 year old club out of Trumann Arkansas. I belive we can build it up into something good. The President is about 70 and I talked with him for about two hours yesturday. Nice fellow.

I think the humane society people and such when interviewd about these things typically say the same things, it's the news casters that get it all wrong. Man, if I had the room I would so take in one of those dogs....

It said the same exact thing that was in the article.
It showed some puppies in a cage that they called bait dogs and the "wooden dagger" that was actually a break stick.

the REALLY sad part is when they put things in the media like "bait dogs" and kittens in sacks and what not, the IDIOTS who know nothing of the sport think this is the way that it is suppose to be done.... and then they go and do it.

Made up complete BS like this does more damage than they think. Stuff like this REALLY gets my skin crawling. The owner is a POS too, just leaving his dogs (IF thats true) out there... shows ones true colors......

I am curious does anyone who responded to this thread think that what was on the video was wrong. Does anyone think that a dead dog in someones back yard is wrong or the lack of food and water for all those dogs there. Of course the media is going to hype this up that is what they do. But i think we have to be smart, don't have 20 dogs in your backyard if you can't take care of them , that doesn't make any sense. Don't leave a breaking stick laying around in the middle of a dog pit, that is ridiculous. What did you think the media was going to say. Would it have been better if they said that this is used to pry open the mouth of a pit bull in a fight. NO. Somebody has to take responsibilty, I hate the negative streotype as much as anyone but being careless only feeds the ignorance that is deeply rooted in public opinion about our breed.

I agree it speards the whole "bait dog" image to those who might try it. I do believe there are plenty of idiots out there using this method. The HSUS states that almost all of their dog fighting cases are back alley type cases and that they almost never see professionally organized fights. If this is true, it only takes a few bait animals to give the HSUS a nasty taste in their mouth. They make it worse by making it public. That's only going to make it more appealling to the punks.

It was the news who put in the "dagger" and what not. If any of you have ever been involved in a news segiment, they take some footage and show the parts they want and add a bunch of drama to it. It's about 50/50 info/fiction. News papers are the same. I don't even watch the news, it makes me sick. I can't even believe half the things they show on TV... it's like watching a warped, 1/2 truth horror movie. It's even extra "exciting" because of the war.

It looked very bad, the guy was not a responsible owner and his dogs payed the price. Not to mention, everyone elses dogs will pay the price too. The reason everyone on here gets all anal over this stuff is because the ARE responsible ( most of them ) and they own breaking sticks and keep their dogs on chains and don't want to lose their dogs.

I do get upset over these topics because everyone focuses all their anger on Humane Societies, when actually it is the owner who should be bashed. Most common sense people know that the news is part fiction and there are a lot of rescuers with half a$$ information who jump to conclusions because they too are blinded with anger, but again, it's the owner who drew all the attention.
