dog hates bikes & skateboards

Discussion in 'Training & Behavior' started by elviejon01, Feb 6, 2015.

  1. Got a pup 13 months old. For the most part still acts like a pup but a few weeks ago I noticed he started showing signs of aggression to people riding bikes or skateboards. He's not HA but something about someone riding a bike or skateboard drives him crazy. has anyone experienced anything like this? Not sure but I think it has something to do with the wheels because when I got him I would sometimes let him loose as I was doing my yard work and he would try to bite the tires/wheels on the lawnmower.

Lawnmowers, bikes, vacuum cleaners. He probly isn't being aggressive to people riding them, more the objects themselves. Maybe you should try getting him used to those things, the reaction prob comes from the dog thinking "wtf is this shit coming my way"

is not aggression it's his prey drive kicking in (but you have to train hem not to or it's going to cause you problems in the future)

Nothing to do with prey drive. Its most likely fear aggression. Just ask some folks if they could stop for a second and let the dog familiarize with the object. Maybe you could ride the bike while someone holds the dog which would probably be better.

  8. It doesn't have to be fear , I got a bitch that screams at cars ,bike , pigs , dog etc. She pull hard towards them to attack , how I really know is that a cow come towards me she didn't hesitate and as soon as the cow come close enough she go for the bite that wasnt fear, if she a car park and she close enough she try to bite the bumper wheel or anything she can get her mouth on. Like how certain dog would run when they see a bigger animal she doesn't, she pulls towards whatever got her mood up.
