Apparently Hog hunters have their own little lingo pups meaning in experienced bay dogs not pup as in young pup literally lol Fyi I am the only one in this thread with a pussy at the moment and I can be a real bitch so play nice OP I wasn't disrespecting you at all I was asking questions to try and clarify what you were talking about. Southern Inferno cleared everything up for us.

ill put these plots above anything anywhere.

  8. Me? I appreciate the offer bud, but ive got more than enough dogs that will produce a hog, including some plotts. I've hunted whole packs of plotts before. Caught a good sow behind a speedway up the road two weeks ago with nothing but crockett plotts on the ground. I don't need anymore pups.

So dogem is a bit reckless so what no need to get all over his nuts lol. You all should be happy that its working and apparently getting it done. None of you know better what that dog can handle than the man himself. Great catch keep it up!

wearin vest aint wreckless...we dont use them if he is good enough he will live..but the people i hunt with take as much pride in thier baydogs as they do thier catch dog...u want to find out what he is take the vest off.I know guys right here where i live been hunting hogs since the 80,s and never used vest..I only questioned the baydogs thats it..I have saw great danes be good catch dogs with vest on.

vest are a security blanket that will eventually let you become too comfortable and thats when your bay dogs start lackin and thats when you become too lazy to take a walk and make sure the dam hog is bayed..we hunt 2 people at least and if we dont have a visual one of us will walk in and make sure the hog is bayed...If he is we will yell to release.

First of all nobody here is all over anybodies nuts.. Second no one here said we knew his dog or what the dog could handle. Third this is an open thread where people can post opinions and ask questions.

that is one thing that isn't in question is the type of catch dog you have on your hands seems to be a damn good one is he one of your better ones?

  18. thanks guys. Dozer is one of the best i have owned. He turned on extremely early, has caught on the ear 99.9% of the time, and i have twisted my break stick so badly a time or two that i decided it would be easier to cut the pigs ear off. This dog has unmatched stamina and i can kennel him with as many adult males as you could possibly fit in the box and he wont bother any of them. I have five other pits(all catchdogs) and they all have more experience and time in the woods but dozer has exceded all.

Its not easy for your newer hunters to get good catch dogs because it takes a different type of bulldog to catch hogs with a pack.Like i said back in the day you could get a ear dog from a oldtimer for dam near nothin..The hog hunters that new and understood what they had would breed to only bitches of the same caliber. And yeah sometimes u would throw 1 or 2 that wasnt good but for one thing lol.But this isnt what most people here no as a bulldog..Thier is a difference. The old timers around here wouldnt match a bulldog if it caught on the ear because they didnt feel he could do enough damage plane and simple. And now even if you had a ear dog it wasnt likely he would put up with other dogs so it takes a exceptional handler to handle one..That why u didnt turn his ass loose if you were not sure the hog wasnt bayed. And some couldnt do it period..As soon as u release they went right for the baydogs..So some you couldnt work with at all..And yes I do belive these catch dogs do show gameness to a point the ones without the vest do.But its a far cry from a match dog.

  20. A great dog and a great post. What a wonderful purpose for a good Pitbull....PS
