i had my dogs ears cropped and they came out great, but i still wish i would have kept them. i miss the feeling of petting his ears and they show a lot of emotion. once you do it theres no turning back.

I use to crop my females just to show people the difference between cropped and el' narural but I no long do it because for one, the vets around me only seem to do the longer show crop and the tips of my mutts ears would almost always curve in (which I really didn't like, I prefer the shorter crop personally) however I stopped cropping a few years ago all together simply because I think the dogs are much more exspressionate with their ears.

20 years ago we called it combat crop (butchered)and then as now they are poorly done and look stupid.

By the OP examples the ideal cut is about 2.5 to stay proportionate to the animals physical head mass.

i love the looks of it especially on a show dog but i have still yet to have it done on any of my dogs

I don't know if calling it a "fighting crop" will get you results at all c'mon now! Its actually called a "battle crop". I dont know where you are but in L.A. where I live I know a place that'll do it for 150.00. I really don't think it's necessary but its your choice.

This is what I would think would happen, but I've read that dogs with cropped ears natural like German Shepherds or cosmetically done like Dobbies & others have "ventilation" and debris and dirt are somehow flushed out. I guess there aren't the folds natural ears have to trap dirt.

In this area, we call it a " Devil Crop".

after a hog rips one of your dogs ears and cost you almost a grand to have em fixed and then croped as an adult the 150 200 as a pup sure seems like a good investment. JMO
