I've had a few extremely athletic smart Bulldogs over the years. Every time I take em out hand walking they will be in strait up hunting mode. Blowing as we go out.. Some have been extremely nocturnal, Screaming to get to anything they smell or hear for that matter. So any of the hand walkers on this tread know exactly what I am saying. To sum it up I've had them so excited to go out that pulling is a under statement. Digging, grinding , with excitement. As we have all spoken about, it's one part of so many different things to do. I enjoy it to this very day or night. 47lbs in this pic after 3 weeks of h.w. 53 c.w.

I didnt really notice 20 miles ...I was looking at 10 miles of road work. To me those extra 45 minutes in there could be anything. 3 miles in 45 minutes is what I average walking one.
I put one one on the golf cart and were back in 20.
I do have a family and a job.

 

Men from the boys is simple. Any Man that is completely dedicated to hand walk there Bulldog 20 miles a day is Not easy for the man or the Bulldog. Just that alone is a work out. Of course you're not going to start a dog at 10 miles in the a.m. in 10 miles in the p.m. most dog starting off the chain depending on the time of the year in the weather, might lay down on you after a couple of miles if that I'm speaking from experience. Not keep in mind all people aren't capable based on health purposes knees ankles hips backs what have you to do that. I have been there and done it. Historically speaking around the Carolina's on a 90 degree day at 90 % humidity, it's a Job. I have known locals who that's all they do is hand walk, along with Flirt & spring pole work, some chain dragging, proper nutrition, and bring home the bacon. You say that you can condition 3 Bulldogs at a time and get them Show Ready??? Lol.. Just out of curiosity, how many Bulldogs do you have? Also what lineage are you using? I don't see 20 miles aday on the keep. I read there was some 45 minute walks away later in.
I could knock them 3 miles off in 20 on the golf cart. I'm not saying it would be easy.

Dex calm down lol it can be done . You just have to have the energy to work 3 at once . James did walk many miles I know . I seen him loose 40 lbs in a keep . Hand walking is great to bond and to empty out and pull weight so whoever thinks hand walking is a waste of time just hasn't done it enough Palooka .

dont think i said it was a waste of time old goat , i just think i can get more from a dog doing more stressful, less time comsuming excerises. ive done my fair share of walking believe me but im no spring chicken myself but even if i favoured walking, me auld knees just wouldnt be capable nowdays. anyone shaping a dog that doesnt form a bond is doing something wrong.i always make time to spend a little one on one with each dog, even just sitting having a yarn with them, we were always told to give each dog its 15 minutes by the fire

But try it against yours. There u will see if there is magic.

Sled dog keep

 

It’s a bad man that can walk a dog 20 miles a day.
I can clearly remember as an 18 year old in a platoon of 18,19 & 20 something year olds going on our 20 mile road march at the end of basic training.
That night as we lay in our bunks all you could hear was guys yelling out from the Charlie horses in our legs many of us were having.

 

I'm not in bad shape myself and I'll sometimes do some 5 mile runs. 20 miles is rough.

 

Its to dry dog out..I don't use it if you have conditioned ur dog properly he will naturally restrict his water intake at the end

 

I don't glorify a snitch..but Ricky Jones conditioned multiple dogs at same time I believe the most was 9 in one show...could of been more ...he would have people hand walk them for him and he would do all the mill work and feed...even still 9 dogs at same time?..fuck one is enough for me

 

Put as much into it as you want your dog to high protein diet
