I'm going purely on memory here but she was heavy Skipper that's all I can tell you. She was the best apbt rabbit catcher I ever saw.

she was a big bitch, and very fast. in the pic shes only a pup, 6 or 7 months old maybe.

 

lol funny u say that a yoused to run a reids bitch on rabbits when she was young and could catch every now and agen was gd fun a bred her with a nice reids dog and the bitch off of that breeding was exeptional at it good fun.cheers .reids.

Scotsmans Max's 1st match he beat No kiddings Pistol50lb being picked up at 53mins.His 2nd match he beat a 65lb dog named Clyde in 3.56mins,clyde never saw the light of day again.Max was open to allcomers.Max sired DREAD who beat EastEnd kennels Neilson who was sired by NELIS rom.Tania was stolen from a game fair so no-one knows her true pedigree,it was made-up to suit.

 

Funny you say that because the Scotsman who owned MAX was into lurchers and didn't have a clue about conditioning,so just slipped MAX of his lead and let him chase rabbits with his lurchers.

 

max did not sire dread, they were brothers.
also it is true dread beat neilson but it has to be remembered he was about a 15lb bigger dog.

 

i heard some one paid alot of money for currstopper and he was STERILE.......

 

aint there alot down off stuff off curstopper..................

 

probably from when he was younger peppa.he had some health issues in later life, terrible skin complaints, mange etc.i have a photo somewhere of him as an old dog ,he looks pretty bad.

In 1996 Yarrakin Lad and I took Ch.Curstopper and Irish Jerry's Lady Chablis for a walk together around the area that he lived... Chablis was heavily pregnant with pups by Curstopper so he clearly was not sterile at that time since Chablis went on to produce a litter that included Katie, Peaceman and Harry

Yarrakin Lad recieved a prison sentence shortly after this, Ch.Curstopper got passed between various other dogmen with some of them abusing Curstopper so badly in their ambitions to be known for quitting one of the gamest dogs ever in the UK... They almost killed the dog but every one of them failed because 'CH.CURSTOPPER WOULD NOT STOP!'

His immune system did fail him however, his skin became infested with ring worm, scarpoctic mange and demodex as the old dog tried to recover from battle sickness and neglect... Curstopper remains the worst case that I have ever seen.

After Yarrakin came out of prison in 2000 he went to fetch his dog back but he couldn't treat the mange that had ravaged Curstopper... I offered to take the old dog, I said I would fix him up and give him a retirement home... Yarrakin delivered Curstopper to me that week ( *there was no money involved* ) and Ch.Curstopper lived out the rest of his days laying next to the fire in my living room... I never tried to breed the dog and he died from cancer in 2002.

i had the chance to use curstopper at stud when yarrakin got him back.i decided not to as the bitch that i had at the time was mainly red strain and even though a few spoke well of her i didn't think she was well enough bred to put to him...curstopper was a well thought of dog in my area and at the time probably one of the best in the country ! how old was he when he died of cancer oldguy ?

Dread weighed over over 65lb's for the Neilson show, scale's only went to 65 and he topped them easily. A friend see him 2 day's after and he weighed 75lb's. Dread was a huge dog that never met anything as naturally big as himself. Max and Dread's littermate brother Buddy 2xw was reguarded as maybe the best in the litter, but was seized.

 

yeah i remember hearing a lot back in the day about the buddy dog, i believe he was from the pompey area and the lads got caught in a sting operation.

 

I see the article that said Tanya was stolen at a game fair and looked like a Buzz bred dog. I asked the Scotsman to show a picture of Tanya and he did with a story of how he got her. She was a brindle dog resembling the Skipper dog's.

 

whatever the breeding on tanya she produced well with what was put to her..would love to no still lol.and as for what been said bout the condition of curstopper thats shocking how some one could do that to a battling champ..why did it end up in that hands if thats the way he was treated crazy!!wish a could ov met these dogs mentiond in the flesh..

 

Just curious but does any of the UK gamedog historians or academics have any record or reference (PBN or SDJ) to Tania being sired by Skipper *prior* to Hagar and Yogi being opened to public stud in the PBN around 1990-91?

Tania was matched into Limey's CH.Dutch and Gunning's Dutchess... Junkyard's Tosh and Redeye's Huc (both Tania sons) were matched and recorded in PBN... Roadwarrior's Bash (Tania grandson) was matched and recorded in PBN... I just wondered when the first reference to Tania being Skipper bred was?

Tania had the same silver tint running through her brindle > sideways sticky out ears and the short/tight bunched toes that Ch.Cheyney and Ch.Klogger both had but both of those dogs had Skipper in them too, so that in itself is unconclusive?

I think I've owned more dogs with Tania close up in their pedigrees than any other person in the UK (including the Scotsman) I always loved Tania! I even slept beside her in the back of a van when I was too drunk to get back home from Dundee back in 1991... I wish Tania was sired by Reid's Skipper x Lady, nothing could make me happier but it's a blatant stinker of a lie...

The Scotsman and McRory both know it's a lie and the reason they know is because it was them who hung papers on Tania in a misdirected attempt to make champions Yogi and Hagar appear more appealing to the public (why? They were great dogs anyway!

The Scotsman told me with his own mouth in 1984 that Tania was stolen from a lurcher and terrier show in England as we drove to Wishaw to pick up my pup from the first Ch.Max x Tania breeding, McRory confirmed the bitch was stolen inside the kennel where Tania was nursing her puppies... In the 5 years that myself and the Scotsman rolled and matched dogs together there was never even one mention of Tania ever being sired by Reid's Skipper... Do you think I wouldn't have known?

If you wish to believe that Tania was sired by Reid's Skipper and if that makes you feel better about your own dog then great! she was a good bitch and a great producer that's for sure!
