Yes, all very handy .... How much room does this take up when you are out in the middle of nowhere, "hunting hogs", as I'll have to be carrying it all with me.....

it will all fit in your carry on bag minus the O2 and blood transfusion...

The injectable drugs that you list are equaly as dangerous as the "epi" if one lacks the knowledge of thier uses. Epi has another very usefull use other than one that you all are thinking about...an if you all new this you wouldn't be scared to use it or have it.

An most folk don't have acess to plasma, blood or acd solution, primary set with filter. Nor do they have the slightest clue how to use it! And it is less likely that any one of you that has posted in this thread can perform a sucsessful transfusion with a donor in the field.
You all are missing some critical key elements for sucsess and survival rate.

You may have had some small sucess in the past with some minimal trauma... but if you get a dog that is fucked up. it will take more than a prayer to save them, you will need knowledge.

  10. Epi can be used to start a failed heart (I assume this is the danger warning), and also to reverse allergic reactions. I attached some good reading material on this subject.

Epi can also be used to slow down bleeding on a laceration.

no offense but im not really digging this list, just use the KISS principle that used on the battlefield an you'll be fine. theres 3 major causes of death when hog hunting:
    1. blood loss = stop the bleeding

    2. loss of an airway = get some oxygen to your dog, this is probably the hardest thing to do for someone who has zero knowledge in airways

    3. dehydration & exhaustion (sp) = get your dog some vitalyte or water an make sure they stay cool.

you could build a nice level 1 trauma kit for around $50-$100 and keep it in a bag similiar to this [IMG]

these 2 bags are small emergency bags that can be MOLLE attached to my vest and take up hardly any room.

I never said you need all that ...i only ment it to be a referance list on things POSSIBLE needed . but like you posted ..i agree about the 3 things .

how do you use epi to stop blood loss? i know its a vasoconstrictor, thats the only thing i can think of that would be useful in stopping blood, but the tachycardia from it seems like it would be kind of counterproductive. id be afraid of losing volume using epi to try and stop blood loss. but ive only used epi for anaphylaxis. do you apply it topically on the lac to stop the bleed?

it is applied topical. it doesn't stop it,it slows it down.

ok... that was the only way i could figure you could do it that would be effective. thats pretty cool. thanks for the heads up.
