Best place to buy raw is thru your local butcher or Walmart. Also if you live in the city...ethnic markets sell there meats cheaper and have plenty of scraps and bones.
On another note...you cannot compare the prices of kibble to raw, cause prices range from brand to brand of kibble.

If you are feeding cheap chicken, beef, egg etc. from Wal-mart or wherever do you have a problem w. the feed that these animals were fed on (it will effect meat quality),and the antibiotics that are given to the animals? If you are feeding raw during a keep then the best available meat would be a grass fed/free range meat. That will be very expensive though.

Most people who feed raw food only have a few dogs. If any of you that feeds raw who has 10 or more dogs, let me know how you do it at a resaonable price?

the key is stocking up...taking advantage of sales when you are not actually out of dog food...i feed mostly raw but use bag food on occasion....for me raw is the better and cheaper way to go but it is so time consuming....especially when feeding multiple dogs....my meals are a basic raw diet but there are others out there that make mine pale in comparison....
1 leg quarter (10lbs for $5.90 or .59cents/lb.)(ten to twelve per bag)
veggie mix (i use a juicer..drink the juice myself and the pulp to the dogs) sort of no cost for the dogs
2 raw eggs (local 4H kid sells them $1/dz...)
    heaping tablspn of lard....
    1 walmart brand multivitamin

this is as basic as it gets....it works out to about $0.57/lb ...not quite what the crappy $25 for 50# is at 50 cents a pound but it is a much healthier way to go for the dogs...but like i said when you factor in the time and effort involved raw is a far more difficult way to go....

i tried it when i had more than ten dogs and the amount of work involved was far greater than the money it saved...i ended up with a couple to three hours preparation each week and then setting out food each day was maybe an hour or so....where as a bucket and scoop i can feed twenty or so in a matter of minutes....

I'll have to look into the chicken then. This is pretty much my raw diet except beef instead of chicken. How much veggie mix would you give them? 1C?

Have to correct myself. Not DRIED raw meat. FROZEN raw meat in burgers. Im including a picture. Dont you got any brand like this in the us? Perhaps a business idea for anyone otherwise ;) Usually I order a whole box. Then fill up the refrigerator. It's very good, you can feed it frozen in the summer, if you want to. Or just let it defrost and feed it the ordinary way.

I agree with the Braggs apple cider vinegar,I use some in my dogs water and a little apple cider vinegar water mixture over their food.
Well balanced raw diet with a high grade kibble only once a week.
The most important factor is having the right dog, high drive is a must.

I was reading a keep by Don Mayfield, and in this article he resticted salt intake 5 /6 days before the show.Aprox 1 day before the show, he would reintrduce salt into the feed. The object is to raise the red bloodcel levels in the blood, thus more oxygen filled blood for better indurance.Any opinons? Is it helpful/harmful?
    Thanks..

    Energy Sourses:
First quik most powerfull energy sours a dog uses are CARBS they wil last (when presend)for 20 min negatif side afect is massif amounds of lactic assid build up. (hens they run hot ) during the recuvery period in between winds and getting rid of the lactic acid the body needs to find the

necst energy sours witch is FAT .

Fat containes the greatest amound of energy(kalories) but its a slow release energy sours.
to speed up the energy burning from fat try to use fat sours that is LIQUIT at room temparature and ore as said befor great exspensif dry food brands wil diliver mostly that(stick you hand in a bag of high performance feed from a top brand and your hand is cuverd in fat/oil).
also all the poison,s that come in crap food and feeding like conserving suplemends ecetera in feeds to make it last for a long time, are stasched in the fat resirves, witch the dog builds up and ore containes . witch wil be released into the body and bloodstream making every living aimal feel bad!!!(.ask a Diabetes person who needs to loose weight and ore anybody that is loosing weight they need to drink lots of water to detox)

Afther fat hase been used up the body starts to switch to Protien (red flag) all the vital organs including the brain harth are build up out of protien. As soon as a dog is starting to use protien he is consuming himself!!!!. therefor a fat less feeding program ore a dog to lean is not going to help the dog.

very true limey........but imagine taking care of this with a well balanced barf diet! there is no turning back to junk food:o
