i have been talking my self up to this, my little red/red nose that i got farmed to me from a great dogger, is now 5 months old, and i finally convinced my self she will be ok to get spayed. i'm a very very overprotective mommy, kids and dogs alike. so this friday she goes under the knife. we are going to set up 1/2 the house for her to be in, and phoenix (her brother) can have the other half. we are getten him fixed next month. but i have been sooo worried, cause she is only like 16 pounds soaking wet, and i don't want anything to happen to her. 5 months isn't to soon right?? and even so little she will be ok right??

We had our girl spayed just before she turned 6 months. Had no problems at all. She wined a little afterwards, but just laid at the door like she wanted to go "bye bye". She was her normal self the day after. was hard to keep her from jumping, running, and rough housing. She healed up very nice, quick. Cant even see the scare anymore. Think you're girl will be just fine, but it is kinda nerve racking. Good luck!

Your worrying too much. Spaying is a very common procedure and dogs bounce right back from it. The hardest part is keeping them from ripping the stitches out playing and being puppies. As for the rabies shot-in my area its mandatory at 4 months.

she is old enough to be spayed, and actually thats a really good age to do it.
You can get your rabies shot generally (depends on the clinic) any time after 16 weeks. Your first shot will be good for a year, then after that, rabies are good for 3 years.

yes it is my dog, i took a farm animal to them, they told me to pick out my 2 of choice. so yes they are my dogs. we traded. i guess farmed out was the wrong choice of words. we traded animals i guess is a better way to put it.

and why did that matter?? all i wanted to know is if 5 months is ok to spay??

Well, in the true sense of the word "farmed out" means you are just hanging onto a dog for someone else for whatever reason, but the dog is still ultimately theres. They just wanted to make sure you werent spaying a dog that wasnt yours and might upset the breeder. 5 months is a great time to spay....its a super easy procedure. :D
