Got a rooster out of a good one called Big Red. Crossed him to a grey hatch.

I put the hens with the roosters and then turn the hens out to hatch.

They are dumber than any dog I have ever owned. They walk to the feed bowl with the snapping and growling and frothing at the mouth to get at them. They time the dog's lunges and grab a chunk of food and jump back. Sometimes they jump back too far escaping the one in front of them but forgetting about the one behind them.

The only plus is I have a female bulldog that eats the chickens. Most dogs will just kill them and leave them. This bitch will eat them feathers and all.

Tried the Sumos but they would not stay. \

I tried chickens once, they are dumb! The dogs ate everything when they got them, was lucky to find a feather or two of evidence.

I grew up on a gamecock farm, dad never had less than 150 birds at a time! I hated it growing up but that's because he had me doing everything. Feed, water, trim combs, trim spurs, de-bug, and even condition them when I was about 11! It's been a few years since it became illegal to fight them here but my uncle still has some good brood stock so I got myself a 3 year old pure kelso cock and 3 hatch/kelso cross pullets to get started so I'm looking forward to it!

Just like the dogs....I bought a nice looking kelso/hatch hen. I put her with my rooster and she hatched 7. They started off looking great. Then they had rose type cones, feathered feet, one of the little roosters ended up being in the super heavy weight division. LOL

The bloodlines are not as documented but just as important.

It was a not the most pleasing the sight.

The only plus is there is always a 'market' for chickens.

that's not cool Lol! I keep a complete record of every cock and hen I breed and would gladly send copies to anybody that gets birds from me! But just like the dogs there are some shady guys out there!

Cool to me. Gaff preserves the heart ..but it seems lk has ruined the birds Them Philipino birds are shitty They just stand there looking at eachother

Gaff is the way to go if you want to prove how game your bird is! But everybody is set on the lk.

The philipinos are like the Mexicans here in New Mexico. They only care about the quick knife fights and not the slow hard gaff fights!

True but at least you get a few more buckles out of em with the shorts . I Like the naked heel myself ain’t nothing like seeing one knocked out then woken up and continue to get the win

Beautiful birds, pure American Gamefowl. Some years ago, a fellow offered to give me several of them for basically nothing as he was downsizing. I believe he bred them for matching. i just didn't have the yard or time back then. I'd like to own a couple some day simply for their warrior spirit and beauty; lol maybe a smallish egg or two in return. Problem is these dogs would not stop whining day and night until they killed every one of them.
