Funny thing though.how different people attending the same event have different views on what actually happened,eg how many versions of the Bullyson ,Benny bob match are there,if he bullyson was a cur,why would somebody like hall build his whole yard around him.people too quick to call dogs curs when they usually havent got a fraction of the gameness of said dog.

It happens. Some of the opinions I’ve heard do the rounds after a show, leave me wondering if I actually saw what I did.

  4. Is that the same one lol?
I thought trusty 43 x win was known as dustman?...and i thought Belcher was the one who won 104 battels and was bought by the duke of hamillton (or westminster???)for 84 gunnies and two shot guns(or pistols???)and then presented to James Belcher of Brisol who was also a winner of many battles..and perhaps the .or one of the greatest pugilists of his time (around 1807)

I could be wrong tho lol.

100 matches , it take over 8 years if he had 1 match a month , he would have to heal up , be shaped and find a match , 100 matches is impossible

Maybe he always won 4 in one night. This would make one show night every 4 months for 8 years. So it sounds possible >:)

    ?..how is it possible ,

  9. LOL......guys were talking like 1807 here.
4 matches in one night??erm?...probs in 1807 lol..must of been some dog...or some shit opisition...

But no way did he win that many..not real ones.
maybe some real ones and some roll...
some aginst poodles and cats lol.

  10. And lol @ Stickler that means every time he was hooked,he was hooked to fight four......(lol.a greedy owner maybe?)

    Lol.na i aint having that.
dog would need to be bomb proof..

even with weak jaws or crappy mouths.no dog could take that much stick month in and month out...

Lots of dogs in them times were supposed to have won lots and lots..
i wonder why this is so?
a hype to sell pups seems likely...
remember now 1800..the value of a dog who was a good worker in them days would of been high..

Speed up a bit in time buy a hundred or so years, and what about Colbys Pincher 24 x win?
Did he really win that meny???
then Tudors Black Jack 16 x win ......
    the list goes on...

All theses dogs might of won many after many but they wont of been real shows.

It would be impossible to fight that many REAL shows.

  18. Nice.....

James Belcher of Bristol (1800),champion of England, the Napoleon of the prize ring, and,i think, the greatest fighter the world has known. He had everything-science ,strength, hitting power, quickness, generalship, gameness, and all in a superlative degree.James Belcher or Henry Pearce-witch was the greatest ever?
for to one if these two the honour must belong.in their own day the matter was hotly disputed. That Pearce fought and beat Belcher did not blind anybody to the fact that when they met Jem(Belcher) had lost a eye,had had constitution considerably impaired, and had laid idle for two years;to counterbalance this, the Game Chicken(Pearce)won fairly comfortably. One critic of the time declared that "had Jem been in possesion of four eyes,he was never able to beat Pearce",but others were equally positive that Pearce would have had no chance with Belcher at his best.
Jem was more scientific, the better general and quicker hitter;Hen.was the heavier hitter and more powerful man;but both were good wrestlers, and game to the death.
    Both men kept fighing dogs..
Belcher was born in 1781 in Bristol.his mother was the daughter of the mighty Slack(Jack Slack 1750)and he inherited her fighting qualties from her.
he (Belcher)stood 5 11" and something under 12 stone in weight.and his features bore a strong resemblence to the Corsican conqueror. In his prime no one could stand before him.
