not a problem. good luck, and let me know how that gen 4 treats ya. they did add the dual captive spring to the full size pistols, a much better design in my opinion

anyone ever play with less than lethal ammo?

my wife got me like a grab bag of shells for my 590 for christmas; 5 incendiary, 5 rubber pellet, 5 bean bag, 5 cayenne pepper shells, and 5 that are packed with what looks like rubber jacks. with the shitty weather and everything else, haven't had a chance to go shoot them off. it's more for a novelty since they always sounded fun.

i'm still trying to find someone that'll let me spray them with the cayenne pepper round but am having no such luck.

When is was 14 my dad took me shooting for the first time.
He gave me a 357 phyton custom to shoot with.
Since then i wasn't able to enjoy a action movie.
Later on owned a baretta 92fs a little .22 smith and western besides the 357 but later on sold them al.
So many strict rules in owning a gun over here that isn't fun anymore.

Me personally give me a colt anyday... Not sayin Glocks are crappy... Jus my preference.... Hell man I got a colt 1911 govt issue, two hi points a 9mm and .45... Those are what I call riding around guns.... Now the Ak-47 or Sks is what I personally like best... You might not need 50,100 rounds... But can you ever have too many bullets.... I think not!!!

    LEE D,

    what's your opinion on H&K firearms ?
I like them more then glocks nothing
    against glock ( had a g36 a long time
ago that I liked but sold when I needed
money) glocks are gtg in my book but
the H&K's just look better to me both
brands are out of box reliable !

one word....love LOL. i love H&Ks stuff and have had a few pass thru my hands that i SHOULD have held on to. the USP, P2000 and the P30 (i've been lusting for a longslide P30 ever since i shot one) are all good to go right out of the box, so it just depends what are you looking for...a concealed carry pistol? if so the USP compact is what i would choose. ive shot several of them and only one (chambered in 9mm) was finicky about what ammo you ran thru it. no reliability issues, it ran 100%, but was a far more accurate pistol with the lighter 115gr loads. i don't have but a couple H&Ks nowadays, but in the very back of my safe i have a mint in box P7 that i don't even shoot (trust me, that's not easy), its just sitting there gaining value.

    nmdogs-

i think lee's post sums it up in a different angle than is apparent, so you need to answer yourself a question - what purpose is the sidearm going to serve?

do you want a nice pistol to more "invest" in as a toy of sorts? or do you want something for edc? if it's a pistol that is carried or used in your home for defense purposes, then you don't want to drop a couple grand on something that you'll more than likely lose if it's discharged and someone is injured, let alone killed and you'll probably not get back. but if it's a nice toy for the range, then start lining up your money, because it's hard to convince your wife that you "need" all the top of the line accessories ;)

year in and year out, i always find myself carrying my G19, and my walther ppq is my nightstand gun and sometimes gets to go out for a walk with me and the dog. it's only "not as reliable" in my opinion because it's had waaaaaaaaaaay less rounds through it than my glock, and i have beaten the ever loving piss out of that thing for years, even using it as an impromptu hammer ( loaded, of course :P ) and it still shoots as straight as i can aim.

    good luck with your purchase.

    LEE D & CHEF,

thanks for the replys guys I myself am a H&K fan
as a matter of fact a USP in 45 ACP was my first
gun purchase when I turned 21 man I love that
gun I'll never get rid of it ! its been nothing but
reliable and has ate everything ive fed it from
ball(fmj) to jhp's even those mini shotgun rounds
they got for snakes and such !... lee a P7 is on my
wishlist but they are hard to find for sale and when
you do their pricey !... but next on my list is a P2000sk
in 40 s&w but im not sure if I want the lem trigger or
da/sa as my usp is da/sa but ive heard good things
about the lem ( WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON THE
LEM TRIGGER ? ) I just signed up for hkpro to learn
more about it and H&K in general ! I know the factory
lem trigger comes in around 8 to 8 and a half pounds
but ive heard of people swapping out the springs to
bring it down to 5 or 5.5 pounds and that is where it
really shines! thanks again for the replys ...

I would like to ask for some suggestions from you guys. I am really entertaining the idea of purchasing a pistol to keep at home for safety. I live alone, in not the very best area and I would feel safer knowing if I ever needed to I could protect myself and my home. Any suggestions?

BK, you'll hear suggestions all over the board from .380 to .38 to 9mm etc. My suggestion would be to go to your local shooting range that has a nice selection of rental guns. Usually you can pay a rental fee and try out as many guns as you'd like to, just bring the one back and they'll let you exchange for another. Not all are that way but most are around here. That way you can feel exactly what you'll be feeling when you shoot it. I got my lady a .38 thinking she'd like it but she didn't and she ended up with a Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm. Point of story, everybody is different and all guns feel different. Some don't feel as comfortable to hold and some have too much recoil (kick) so it's best just to see how they feel in person. You can have 2 9mm guns from same manufacturer but they can feel different shooting them because of different design or parts etc. I'd google shooting ranges in your area and go give it a shot, literally.

The PX4 Storm is a nice firearm and it has a very light recoil. It feels like you're shooting a pellet gun, it's that easy to shoot, and that's what you'll want is to be comfortable and confident when you're shooting. My lady has shot almost all of mine and she loves shooting and carrying her PX4 over all of them.

Thanks Treez, that is a really good idea. There are a couple ranges close to me, The American Shooting Center is very close. I'll go try that out and report back what I looked and decided to go with, thanks again sir!

NP, if they have the PX4, check it out also. Let me know what you decided on :D.
