I would say she will grow out of it with time. It's probably just unfamiliar noises she's not use to. I would just keep taking her on walks and doing what your doing and if she gets startled don't change your actions just act like nothings wrong or maybe stop and pet her a bit.

Is there a possibility she is sick, or in some kind of pain?

  6. I'd like more info but from what you wrote I'm gathering your dogs developing anxieties, (noise, people, separation) they all are one in the same. 7. I'd like more info but from what you wrote I'm gathering your dogs developing anxieties (noise, people, separation) as shes getting older and i feel they have always been there you just didnt see the signs. I'd suggest you find a trainer that specializes in behavior issues. In the meantime, when your dog reacts to a noise, don't "pet" her as its a natural reaction on your part to comfort her but what you are actually doing is praising her for what she's doing wrong. Also try to redirect the negative reactions she does with something positive such as a simple "sit" command. Make her sit through the problem, patiently without looking for a way out. This will take sometime and lots of patience but in time you will begin to see how this simple exercise will help. Good luck and keep me posted on how it all goes.
