ok I didn't read all of this but after the videos I keep wondering Wolverine vs Honey Badger, they are from the same family, the Wolverine maxes out at 70lbs, the Honey Badger at 35lbs, I couldn't find anything on how thick or movable the Wolverine's skin is and I think that is what it would come down to, both can take bites that for an animal theirs size should at least slow them down but doesn't, both go after pray many times larger than they are and both have a huge reputation.

oh and the entire Hyena vs a bulldog, I think it would come down to if the dog could stick and move causing damage and not get bit because the hyena would easily crush with a bite, and if it was a female hyena not a male (look them up, they are more aggressive)

Shaking my damn head at the people actually giving a dog a chance if the hyena was to attack. Hyenas are known as cowards for the most part that's why thier scavengers but why would anyone compare them to a boar(pig) or a mountain lion? Biteforce is going to wreck whatever the hyenas sink their teeth in! Keep thinking what you think tho I see your brain is gamer than that dog will prove to be!

Hey yall....The long calendar is about to run out. They have taken DNA from a wide range of animals and have stored seed banks to in the Artic..he he he. Modern day Noah I guess. May be something similar to Adams first Wife Lilith who I just learned about the other day. Trial and error.
I just hope they got some DNA from the APBT's. They are one of the only dogs that could hunt by themselves in this day and age.
Man has dog for a reason. You dont see men hunting with hyenas, lions, or honey badgers!!
    Just saying!

.....................................L....O....L........ if you believe anyone but our heavenly father GOD will call for things to end in this world your thoughts are funny but im not here to judge anybody but i will tell you this, you better get your mind right! and think of this, what will a seed bank do if the world is going to end? the world will end in fire as the bible says nothing will be left, so those banks and the rich people who put thier money first and think they can hide will have another thing coming but like i said im not here to judge ill just relate the message i just said and that if you dont belive GOD is our Heavenly Father and JESUS CHRIST is our Lord and Savior i have nothing to say, i dont argue over the internet. Thats all i have to say on that! (((( LETS GET BACK ON THE TOPIC! ))))

no disrespect that was a comment in general to whoever thinks that the mayan calendar ending is the end of the world! but this topic is really over if anyone really wants to defend a dog beating a hyena a spotted hyena at that they have no clue there like a dead game dog thats not dead they just coming back for nothing but to prove there brain is gamer than reality!

I feel ya. I have never studied the hyena, but I'd tend to think it would just scavenge if alone. Are they not a pack animal also? For a pack to survive...there has to be three main parts. I guess I better do some research on them before posting any more on a hyena.
I have seen some vedios of a wolverine being way nastier than that badger was, on National Geographic.
This thread is way off topic..I know . Seems to be fantacy and that is all I meant with my post. The shoe kinda fit I thought.

BTW - the old calender actually is stating that a mankind is to enter an enlightened state..No doom, but rather a bright new beginning. Did you know that the Mayan's did actually know somehow that all the planets would align perfectly on this day, and that magnetic poles would shift. The true secrets are in the stars, that I know. I do know that the compass is begining to act a bit strange these days.
Weather is not the same as it once was. They did know something.

I am Irish mainly, with a sliver of American Indian, and about an 8th English. I believe in many things that most in this country do not. It is in my blood and I have discovered my own religion, which is pagan( celt or mesoamerican), due to my pedigree. The blood in my veins is hot and I seek answers to my own questions. I am an American and practice the rights layed down by my forefathers.

Sorry about the religious garb, which none really want to hear. I will keep it to myself from now on.
I was not upset, but just wanted you to know my take.

What others want to hear isn't important as long as you speak on what you believe in is the important part, I don't have a problem with what you believe in because I'm not here to judge anyone plus this is the internet which means were all stating opinions on what we believe to be true! Yes hyenas scavenge in packs@the same time I don't know anything about them hunting there scavengers. I'm just going on what I know for a fact on hyenas by what I learned growing up! We could all do research on them but it still won't come to say anything about them fighting American pitbull terriers! Facts are they will crush a domesticated dogs bone which stand no chance against what they eat in the wild!

And to add I definitely don't see a pack of domesticated pitbulls defending there selves against a pack of lions which a pack of hyenas can and will do depending on how hungry they are for the meal they scavenged!

Well I tell ya - if you seen Africa first hand, you are a heck of a lot more fortunate than I. I'd love to see it someday.
You are right , that we should not care what others want to hear, as long as we believe what we do. I'm starting to like you Capo. :) We can agree on our different views and thoughts.
Until someone sends a catch dog to catch a hyena, I guess we will never really know. Can dogs do catch work in Africa?
I bet one of those wort hogs would be a heck of a lot more work than a hog in the states. :) someone from Africa better tell us whats up!

I still think hyenas look like a cheeta/dog cross and bet their bone crushing jaws are a sight to see. I think their laughing nature is a bit scarey!

Lol I've never been to Africa as I wasn't given wings when I was born so I'm straight on leaving the states, but when I was younger I was into animals. Hyenas are from the cat family which it seems a lot of people don't realize that! I would like to see a hound on a warthog to lol as they can defend themselves from a lion but at the same time once that lion/lioness grabs hold and no other warthogs are there to help it's pretty much game over for the pig!

if i ever make it to Africa it aint gonna be to see what my dog could and couldnt whip so i aint gonna get involved in that conversation. id rather bring a .375 H&H double and take big game myself. a mounted Hyena just inside the front door would definitely get some attention when folks come over. LOL

Lol. Good point! There's big game over there and the only thing you need to hunt with over there is the correct tool & right box of lead, a good spotter and someone are two watching your back!

Theres a Bloom Brothers DVD where they go to africa and try they're pig dogs on Warthog, and Bush pig.
It was definetly interesting, lots of interesting footage. You can order it off they're website.

Yes I know a little about warthogs, but I'm not interested in hunting DVDs, sounds interesting tho! Question is what happened?
