Always wondered whether Fatty (roscoe) Arbuckle's silent movie ' The Butcher Boy' was inspiration behind the naming of Norman Hooten's famous dog? Anyone got any ideas? 3 minutes in when Luke the dog jumps onto the treadmill to crush the pepper corns.. Just Classic :)
I'll try post the link :)

I should have used the search engine and posted on an existing Butcher Boy thread (apologies to moderator) but I got excited, started pressing buttons and hit fire before thinking about it first? Hooten must have taken the name from that Roscoe Arbuckle movie, we never know for sure anyway! I don't know very much about BB dogs, closest I ever seen was this one and liked him a lot ..

No. It is somewhat local. I know folks who do run the tramp...topside stuff...
And i Also know the fella whos name appears on the bottom side. Have shown under him. Just fond of both top and bottom...and the folks that are behind it.
My yard is mainly heavy Colby..Sorrells..Old Family Blend.. Via Budweiser crusher..with some Jeep blood as a common denominator.

Thanks McCoy, that's interesting, I live in UK and never seen a Colby or Sorrells dog, but had some old family during the 80's, liked them a lot, bred from this and other Reid dogs.

Great read Vicki, thanks! Butcher Boy, my lord what a dog! I was delighted FB included the Norman Hooten yard tour on Dogman 2000 DVD's..Great insight into the man and his dogs.. Lionhead, Pistol, Belle Star and Head Hunter, honest straight and true, just like their owner.

well you can't always believe what you read, or even see for that matter or much less hear, but sometimes people get comfortable and it happens...
