How many users here use a turntable to condition their dogs. I know of a guy that does but he lives a few hundred miles away. How long do you let your dogs run.where did you get yours or how did you make it. I found 1 thread about turntables on this forum. Its on page 9 of the conditioning page.if you don't use one would you consider it...

Yeah, i know of 1 guy on here who has one. I heard they work great. I would guess that you would have to build the dog up, just like any other conditioning activity. And yes i would give one a try.

my grandpa used one for a few years after the catmill came down. there ok. personally i think that you would need to turn the dog around half way through the workout to avoid inadvertantly making one side stronger then the other....

    theres much better ways CLK.

all you would really need to build one is a free spinning axel and a LARGE round sheet of plywood and some 2x4's to brace the plywood underneath and connect it to the axel with the axel standing stationary....

Make sure it spins with no resistance. and that its LEVEL. if it not level the turntable will wobble like a warped record.

yes sir, you are correct. and you really need to pay attention on the springpole also exspecially if you have a dog that like to spin. you dont want them spinning in the same direction the whole time. some are easy to get going the other direction other's are alot harder. and some just wont spin both ways for nothing.....

just keep an eye on it....

I'm going to be moving soon and I was planning on having a conditioning area on my property... I'm going to have over 15 acres if me and the old lady can agree with each other.thanks for the info on what I would need. I'm going to do some research and see if I can get a plan for it.

Ain't that the truth! I've been using the lazer pen in the yard to warm Scarling up before her treadmill run and she'll do nice wide cirlces going clockwise but when I change directions she's all off kilter and will cut across the center to cheap out and get the light! lol I make a point of running her counterclockwise regardless. lol
