I'm curious to know how much money you spend a month, per dog, to feed your dog. I never really sat down and did the math until today and was a little shocked to find out how much I spend to feed dogs per month. I pay $1.22 a day to feed Taste of the wild ( fed them totw for quite a few years ). This don't sound to bad if you only had one dog but when you multiply that by how many dogs you have then it can get to be pretty expensive. I would prefer to feed raw but I have never been able to do it for less than what I already feed.
So lets see what your spending a day to feed....

 

Right now for 4 dogs 125.00 a month I feel lucky compared to some people I know lol

 

$1.04 a day per dog. What do you feed Sadie, raw or kibble?

 

im gonna try to do this without a calculater.......this is the very LEAST BASIC it gets for my dogs, sometimes they get more (organs,veggies,animal fat,...ect)

4 dogs.....

3 (10 lb) bags of chicken quarters = $25

10 lb bag of brown rice= $12

1 brick of lard= $5

1 bottle of daily multi vitamin=$5

1 pallet of eggs = $10

approx $57 a month at the very least, but like i said i (more often than not) give them organs,veggies and all that good stuff so it easily tops $100.

but if you want to go with an inexpensive raw diet, the one i posted is chep enough and still far better than any kibble out there IMO......

 

heres what each dog eats everyday (atleast)

1 cup brown rice

1/2 chicken quarter (so an eighth)

1 soft boiled egg

1 tablespoon of lard (alternate coconut oil every other day)

1 daily multivitamin

 

damn this is interesting. i only have one mutt my participation is pointless.

 

well I feed a raw diet...so it depends on the price of meat, I try to keep it under 2/lb my butcher has no competition so even beef fat costs 1.34/lb (which is REALLY outrageous) but my boy also eats 3lbs a day, currently I am feeding the 100 or so lbs of free deer meat I got a few weeks ago, but I would say on average I spend about 100 a month or so without the free stuff, with is maybe 20 a month

 

About .88$ per day!

 

I feed kibble ...

 

200 lbs a month...150 bucks a month.

 

I fed an almost identical diet for 3 months earlier this year and all my dogs started to look like shit. So I went back to totw. I like the concept of raw just been unsuccessful in creating a diet they looked good on. I even added a few more things to it and switched up every other day the chicken to a beef based meal plus added green tripe but still the dogs weren't looking like they werent doing nearly as good as on nibble. Ill try it again one day because as stated earlier I said earlier, I really like the idea of feeding raw. Just money wise wasn't saving me money and the time preparing food was a time consuming venture.

 

Its not pointless because I'm curious per dog so I'm only want to know what one spends for one single dog. I know its a lot cheaper to feed one dog as aposed to a yard but the per dog equation ill give me how much I would spend a month simply by multiplying the # my the amout of dogs I have. That's why I only needed to know per dog.

Raw or kibble?

 

Is that just the cost of your meat? Wondering because the diet would still need other things factored in for a true total.

 

thats just feed AGK no suppliments..I use 2 diff brands of feed..I switch em every week.

 

I feed one dog right now and i buy Whole chickens 4 in a bag for $5.The chickens weigh about a 1.5-2 pounds apiece.I buy 32 for $40.I give him 1 whole chicken each night.I get enough organ meat to last the month for about $10.then i buy about $10 worth of fish and quail eggs.so i spend about $60 a month.But i know i could keep him well fed for at least $50

 

Raw, .90 - $1.00 a day per dog. Buy in bulk and watch for good deals and stock up.

 

One dog and I buy a 30lb bag of Orijen adult every five to six weeks for $65.

 

I Spend a little over $100 a month kibble. Now feeding raw is a lot less but I really only feed raw in the summer, its to damn cold here in winter to be slim. Honestly I never payed attention to how much I spend. I'll ask the wife I bet she knows lol,to keep a healthy yard cost money. Yis Ole Man

 

four dogs around 80 a month i feed exceed from sams its 30 bucks for 44lbs.
