The best reference I know for every aspect of raising & maintaining bulldogs is right here on this site.. The search window on here holds a lot of experience & knowledge from some great dogmen.. I only read something on here the other day that hit me right between the eyes, won't embarrass the person by naming him, but loads of diamonds here if you're willing to look and get out your note book.. Anyway bro, way I see it is like this.. Lungs is Mo Farrah, whereas lungs, strength, talent & gameness combined is Kabib Normagomedov!

When I was a young kid we fed Field Trial. It was like meat flavored cardboard. It even came with occasional feathers.

It was like $5 or $6 per 50lbs.

I grew up doing the same. We did add some chicken necks (free from Kentucky Fried Chicken hookup). And the key ingredient back then was Clovite Horse Conditioner.. Work the shit out of them and off to the show.

Looking back we had one foot on a slippery slope and one on a banana peel. LOL

I believe that's the second book I bought a lot of good information in it too. The first book I bought was Richard Stratton book The world of the Ameican pit bull terrier that was the only book available at that time until the internet came along.

Regarding books, keeps etc, there is a story in jack kellys book how he nearly killed a dog, during a keep following the method of feeding armitage used in his book,"30"yrs with,by trimming the fat off the meat he was feeding.

True. It is called 'loss of life sustaining fats'.

The dogs organs will start to shut down as the end of the keep the dog is in reality not very healthy. High red blood cell count. Lowered blood volume. Really close to dehydrated. Body fat below needed levels.

Ironic the dog needs to be in an unhealthy state to perform at his very best.
