Is ratting legal in any US state?

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by The Keep Book, Aug 18, 2019.

  1. What types of terriers do you folks in the US keep for ratting?
What type of terriers do folks keep for rating regardless of were you all are?

    Just curious.

Those little JAGDs are beast for their size.First one I ever saw or heard of was back in the 80s .Friend of mine did some work for some very wealthy folks in Florida and he asked if he could have one of those Terriers for payment and they agreed.Little Bastard was a Maniac .Let him out in the morning he would track and destroy anything that crossed the property that night if it was within his size.8 ft rattlesnake did him in but he killed the snake before he died .Had no fear and was intelligent.

  6. Flamible-is also what I noticed when I watched the vids on them. ..from what I could tell, they seemed hard as nails but with common sense way ahead of other terrier breeds..bay like thunder-but still attack or go in for the kill..witch is a excellent trait.(if traits the right word? )...also they are used for a hole load of tasks-not just digging, but ratting, retreaveing, even tracking deer and boar..truly super versatile little dogs..
Im not saying other breeds of terriers cant do all these tasks.but as has been said that plunmmers are better at rat the fox,and even tho fells are great at ratting, there main job is fox..the white body ones discussed further back in the thread are awesome at bushing(and ive seen some of this type bush in the flesh and I was very impressed).....but these Jadges do seem to do a lot more diffrent all round tasks then other terriers.and they are used to the full...

Im not saying there the best terriers.
im not saying any particular terrier breed is the best either..

I think all terriers are great.

Wouldnt have mattered if he was a foot long if he gets bit.Its something most animals arent use to is a snake encounter.I had a big ass tom cat that would kill them but got bit his first encounter but he learned.Got him on the bone in the hind leg so he hit bone and couldn't get in deep.
