Man I could walk out in my yard and flip over a few objects and find 4 or 5 black widows within 30 mins.I don't bother them , they stay very secluded .You have to put your hand right on one to get bit. Most people don't even know they are there.I just know where to look.Never had a prob with them, never had a dog bit.

Something happened to me a couple yrs ago that I have never saw in my life.I come home from work and checkin the dogs out and I come to one of my young males and he is usually bouncing at the end of the chain glad to see me.This dog is in his house and froze like a block of ice, like a statue and won't even move his eyes.I'm very puzzled and my first thought was a dam snake had crawled in his house with him.So I realize somethin is very fucked up..I eased up and grabbed his chain and it was like we knew what each other was thinkin. He knew I was fixin to jerk him out of there and when I gave a jerk , he shot out of his house like a rocket, and right behind him was the fastest spider I ever saw coming right at me.It was so fast it was a reflex on my behalff to stomp him and I didn't miss.It was just a reflex and I got lucky or he would have went right up my leg.Size of a half dollar.I crushed him so bad I still don't know what kind he was. That dam dog was smart enough to know the dam spider was dangerous and just froze like a statue.I said well this fucker iss bit , I check him over and find nothing.I take him inside so I can watch him.He turned out fine , never got bit.I never saw anything like that.

None of the spiders I deal with are venomous. Probably the only good thing about living where I do is there isn't really anything venomous or even slightly dangerous I have to worry about. Worst thing here to worry about would be wasps or yellow jackets. Neither are an issue though.

Our problem is the pines across the path. The pine straw lays there year around. 98F here on one day, a quick shower and 98F the next day. Humidity screams and it makes the perfect incubator.

I have sprayed enough shit over the years to poison most wells. Most of all of them work for a period. When Dursban was available that worked the best. As good as it was there was still the occasional pockets popping up here and there.

I keep the yard raked up and keep the ground sprayed. I can go weeks and months and then wham! One or two dogs will be eat up. Follow pretty much the same routine as most. Spray the yard, dust the bedding, treat the dog.....knock 'em back til the next time.

Same here. Some years are worse than others. The guy that farms down the road says this year will be better than most. We had a couple of stints in Feb. and March that were in the high 70's, low 80's, followed by freezing temps with snow and ice. The weather was crazy. He says the first two waves of fleas and eggs were wiped out. I'm hoping he is right.

As always I'm loaded up and ready.

Activyl ......I am bumpin this product again ! Not the cheapest and don't expect over night results because it doesn't repell .It just lets them hop on the dog and then kills them.ACTIVYL works ladies and gentlemen .I first bought this shit ,I put it on my dogs at 12:00 dinner time.Went back to work and come back home at 4 and my dogs were still scratching. So I call the Vet back and talked rudely to them because I just dropped like 70 bucks. To this young ladies credit she remained polite and reasoned with my hard headed ass and reminded me it's not a repellant lol. After about 7 days I had to go apologize personally and bought some more of the shit .lmao

    I will look into it.

I am fighting them tooth and nail this year. My neighbor told me how this would be a not so bad year. He lied.

I have not dipped dogs in a number of years. I mixed a barrel of permethrin mix the other day. I have dipped, sprayed, dosed, treated, bathed and cleaned for the last week or so.

Either me or the dogs will not have fleas. I hope it is the both of us. LOL

It is so hot and dry after we had tons of rain earlier in the summer/spring. The planted pines across the path just keeps bringing them over. I told my wife they are like a quad-trillion of them over there on the bank like soldiers waiting for the order to charge. They then come in waves.

It hasn't been terrible this year for me.I jumped on them early .We just didn't have a cold enough winter to kill anything.Activyl sure helped me get mine under control.Expensive but it worked.

Why don’t you American lads just keep your dogs on concrete and you are sorted
I use advocate it kills worms and fleas on your dog

Concrete is hard on a dog's joints. Any animals joints that live on it really. I work standing on in all day and by body hurts constantly, especially my knees, hips and back so I couldn't imaging having to live on it. The constant contact with it also creates calaicus and pressure sores on contact points that make constant contact with it like hip joints, ankle, rings around the tail etc. and also can create the equivalent of bed sores from the constant laying on it. It has its perks but it also has it's cons like anything else. That and the fact that a concrete slab for anything more than 2 dogs is running into the thousands of USD to do properly, unless you can do it yourself and even then, in current times, it would still be pretty expensive. It also then becomes a permanent fixture of your property which can and most likely will hinder the properties value.

That's why I don't do it. The whole thing lol.

That and the fact that there will still be grass where the concrete ends so while it may possibly cut down on the flea egg laying area they have to reproduce themselves, it doesn't solve the problem of having fleas. Kennels that have all concrete floors still have to treat and deal with fleas.

I'd rather treat the area and have them living on soft ground. Personal preference. To each their own. Concrete looks better visually but it has its set backs as well.

I looked this product up. I'll show you why most with a yard won't use it. Simple math.

That's to do just 1 dog for 6 months. Lol I don't think I need to explain that one much further lol. That's a huge cost to be paying for roitine flea treatment. Be cheaper to bring in a professional exterminator. Lol.
