Ok ,today I seriously wanted to beat the $hit out of our mail carrier, we have a bunch of new trainees and one of them sprayed my dog with pepper spray. We have a six foot high privacy fence but were the latch links up there is a lil gap were anyone can see in or out and that is where the spraying took place. I heard my dog screaming when I let him in his eyes were closed and he was rubbing his face on anything possible. I put cold towels on his face to help. Usually he is on a chain/axel set-up but I was off of work today and let him roam the yard a lil. There was no reason for him to be sprayed being he cannot get out of the backyard without human interacton. Is there anything I can do at the post office to make sure that, that particular person will not attempt to purposly spray my dog again.

I know he should have been on his chain set-up......

we had a mailman just like that ,he actaully got fired from all the complaints against him.My mom had flower garden in front of the window with a little fence around it and he would actually step over the fence just to walk by the window and get the dogs worked up.He sprayed every dog in the neighborhood through the fences and claimed they were climbing the fence to attack him. Most these dogs had never shown any signs of being vicious,he kicked an 8 week old dobe pup while the owner was ouside with pup on a leash ,the pup was sniffing his shoes and he just kicked it.He finnaly got fired after spraying a cat!All I can say is document and call the post office everytime he does anything you dont like.

Yep you're right, he needs to know the pain of it and pepper spray would do justice because that's what he used. Just spray him until the bottle runs out. An Eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. That's justice in my own little world.

i'd call the postmaster and discuss it with him,,, if you spray himit will be straight up assault and battery,,,if your dog was in your yard and not able to get to him then he should be punishable by the creulty laws,,, i would check that first and call the paper and let them know,,, did he have to come into your fence to deliever the mail? if he didn't the dog was contained and he is liable

I agree, call the postmaster & do everything in your power to have that SOB fired, or at the very least make sure his route isn't in your neighborhood. I got sprayed w/ pepper spray to get certified in it this week & that sh.t HURTS!!!!!!!! I sure as hell wouldn't want any d.ck who sprayed my dog for nothing keep doing rounds in my neighborhood!

  9. If that would happen to me...........
I am very friendly and cautiously, however, this man would spit teeth. The same lasts as if he would injure my children . This there lasts a bad, big mistake. This man would bring for sure fairly long time no more letters....

Call the postmaster & call the cops! If they want to use the police to fight dirty, IMO so should we. Also, even if you think it won't help, a report will be on file for the next time this guy sprays your dog.

  11. I completely here, sprayin the mailman in the face will do you no good, but trouble instead. Call the postmaster and/or police. I am sure something will be done legally....and put a stop to it, instead of making it worse.

although going to the postmaster or complaining about the mailman IS the only choice you have in defending yourself, you would be naive to think it will make any difference. If you think it would, then you are assuming they are going to treat you like any other dog owner. and you can forget that.

  13. This is not true...some people MAY be this way....our UPS man was fired for stupididty towards our dogs....

Why in the hell does everyone always think the most negative thing possible about these dogs and other people.....there are some good people out there...not to mention honest that put morals and cooth above personal BS.....

i am sure there are some good people, but few and far between. I called to complain about my mail man where I used to live and after they found out what type of dog i have, they put me on the list of people with dangerous dogs and that meant that i had to go pick up my mail, they wouldn't deliver my mail. I am glad you had a good experience, and I hope I can get a good person to deliver my mail too.

  15. You are right...some good some bad....but the first thing they need to do is call the postmaster...if there is no current BSL law and the laws state that no dog be deemed vicious according to breed, then legall thay cannot do this...the only reason I know this is because we just went through a CRAP FULL of this.....it can be faught, legally...
I hope you get one too! ;)

I would report the mail carrier. He basically assaulted your dog. Your dog was responsibly contained. There was no way the dog could of got out of the fence. Report the bastard.

Just b/c he makes a report to the Post Master does not mean he has to disclose what kind of dog he owns ...

Come to think of it, I would file a police report too. It's assault. Your mail carrier is trigger happy with the pepper spray....

  19. LOL...I know it probably was not meant to be...but that was funny. As it is true though. I agree with ABK, you really do not have to diclose what breed or in my neck of the woods they claim "bread" the dog is. And I love the little pic of JC he is so darlin!

FearlessKnight: I was laughing as I posted that but, damn, it is assault. And thanks for the JC compliment...appreciate it...
