yes I saw a very old thread related to this and don't want to start a thread war, just a simple question pls. 6 year old spayed female amstaff, well trained and dog socialized, played nice until around age 2 then starting showing DA. we keep her from other dogs now except for one boxer she has known since puppyhood. she doesn't growl or snarl or pull to attack other dogs she just lets them start sniffing then "snaps" and goes for them. have walked her with other dogs as a pack, works okay as long as we don't allow meeting and greeting...just walk. wondering if using a muzzle just to socialize her just with my sister's dog, inside our fenced yard, short attempts at the time, might acclimate her to the other dog and maybe lead to the ability to let the have supervised play dates together. anyone with success at such an approach?

LMfao!! these motherfuckers kill me with this playdate shit like there kids!! give that dog to someone that understands it and can handle it and get yourself a lab.

  3. you can try it with a muzzle my dog is almost the same thing, with unfamiliar dogs , he snaps and gets a little crazy but after a time of been together they start to play, every dog is diferent , but worth the chance to try..

she said she geta along with the boxer well theres your damn answer she can hang with the boxer. a dog is always gonna follow his nature. is you have a bitch that doesnt like other females than keep her with a male and visa versa some dogs dont like other dogs period and should only spend time with there people. you have to understand that.

  6. i understand your point of view...
but i disagree, dogs need to be social with they own specie not only with humans, exist excepcions when we talk about genetics of a dog..

Don't underestimate your dogs ability to hurt the other dog wrestling. You can desensitize a dog to just about anything but take your eyes off of them from one second and it may be a prison war in a matter of seconds, over just about anything (a funny look, blade of grass, leaf). Some dogs prefer the solitude and exercise that comes with having the companionship of a good handler.

That dog is showing some sign of aggression regardless if u see it or not. I agree that dogs can be taught to tolerate things but when u turn ur head it could be on before u know it. One thing that may help is to get the energy level down prior to introduction. Enough exercise could help in a dog that is mildly DA. Now a sho nuff DA dog I don't figure it would help much.

Not backyard dogs, but if you ignore the history of and the purpose for which they were bred, you will be facing severe consequences if those genetics should ever surface. Never put the dog in a situation where it will fail, it could cost another dog it's life.

If you want a dog that gets along with dogs, get a different breed. I really hate these threads but I leave them up so people can see what NOT to do...

Stop humanizing your dog, it's a dog not a human and it doesn't need doggie buddies it only needs it's owner as a friend.
I don't have BYB dogs and if it was legal then yes, I would want my dogs to do what they are bred for or were bred for I meant..;)

I mean come on, the sites name is GAME-DOG.com for Christ Sakes..... Maybe our sister site http://www.pitbull-chat.com/ is a little bit more your speed and will help you out better.

The dog is DA so keep her away from other dogs and quit trying to make her do something she isn't going to do.It'll be better on you and her both in the long run.

That is all fine but if you like dogs that play with other dogs, then get a breed that isn't DA by nature.

Speaking of genetics it is the genetics of this breed to be DA

This is called Game Dog,don't know what people expect when they come here other than respect for the history of the breed. If you get to tired of it here, then it's as simple as logging out.
