My dog is disgusting...

I always know when Soji is doing something wrong because everything gets reeaaal quiet except for the clinking of his tags. Well my two year old daughter is in the middle of potty training (anyone see where this is going yet?), and hadn't told me she'd just gone #2 in her potty chair. Well, I'm in my bedroom last night folding clothes and I hear the tags clinking, and I get this funny feeling that I should go check on the dog. So I get up and start looking for the source of the clinking tags, and as soon as I turn the corner from the hallway to the bathroom I see it...Soji has his whole face in Anabelle's potty chair, WOLFING down its' contents. I pull him off to find that everything that was in Anabelle's potty chair is gone except for a few smudges (GAG), and Soji's snout is COVERED in poop. It gets worse...
After I've cleaned up myself and the dog, I start cooking dinner. Well the cat always likes to come up and sit next to me on the floor while I cook. Soji comes into the kitchen, gulps down like half the contents of his water bowl and walks over to where me and the cat are standing. A few moments later, Soji gets this weird look on his face...and then throws up a whole stomach-full of kibble-poop-water-vomit...all over the cat!:eek: Poor cat just stared in disbelief as if to say, "I can't believe that just f*cking happened!" So I scoop up the cat and rush him to the bathroom to give him a bath. Usually this cat turns into something akin to a wolverine when you try to give him a bath, but this time he seemed to have no objections.:p
Well obviously some of it had gotten on the kitchen floor as well, so I went back to the kitchen to clean it up, and it was GONE. Soji was laying on the floor looking guilty, and I was like, "You know, for a smart dog you do some really STUPID things."
I hope he'll be okay...

 

I am in the middle of training at work and I just had to do everything I could to stop myself from laughing. The cat part was fucking hilarious.

 

Yes they can be really disgusting at times. My dog Brownie goes around his kennel looking for poop to eat. I have to clean it everyday to try and stop this habit. I gues it must smell like food to them. Uugggg... 'bout to gag thinking about it.

 

you need to put a warning on this i just got strange looks from my co-workers because i just started laughing out loud

 

IMHO, there are several [possible] reasons or combination of reasons for this behavior.

It could be clean-up mentality. The dog knows the poop should not be there and therefore cleans it up.

The dog may know that owner screams and gets really upset at the sight of poop and therefore eats it to not get in trouble. In other words, it hides the evidence!

It can also be that the dog's diet is lacking in some respect either due to inadequate absorption of a specific nutrient(s) or lack thereof. The inadequate absorbion of nutrients may be due to worms or parasites.

B!tches may also eat pup poop as a way to hide the litter from predators.

And another reason might be a young pup exploring its surroundings and yes eating it surrounding as well.

An easy way to stop this habit is to feed a little bit of canned pumpkin. It takes good to eat but horrible after it has been digested.

 

lol....My jack is a shit eater too.... IF YOU EVER figure out how to break him....PLEASE let me know..... hes ate shit since he was born and probly will till he dies.... hes the nastiest dog i have ever owned and hes proud of it lol

 

Have you tried this with success rocky? how much do u feed. im going to start it tommorrow and try it for a week with jack.

 

Ok this was hilarious I had a dog that liked to rob the litter box when I had a cat I think that those tootsie rolls covered in sprinkles were like a delicacy. I can just picture that cat lol

my pup likes to snag a kitty crunch nugget out of the litter box every now and again...but i have one of those ones that sweeps the box after the cat shiz so its pretty hard for her to get them...she dont eat her own poo but god she loves kitty krunch nuggets...

rotflmao. that poor kitty. he's probably gonna need therapy after that one. lol rocky does that work on puppies who will tear through the garbage to get to a dirty diaper. i've had to start putting the diaper garbage on the back porch everytime i change one. my pup french fry acts like it's crack or something everytime i change a diaper. she'll go crazy trying to find it. i feed her plenty of food. she's been dewormed, has her shots, and her poop is normal. can't figure out what else she could need to stop her from being the baby's pooper scooper. i want this to stop before my baby starts potty training. don't know if my stomach could take regurgitated poop. lol

My dog polices the cat box too. Cat scat is real high in protein which is why a lot of other animals will eat cat scat.
