    Hey everyone !

I'm new here and have owned a Pit for 8 years. I recently have discovered a little bit of history about the APBT and wanted to learn more.
I came across this video the other day and it opened my eye to a different history of the Pit Bull.

From the information that i recently gathered, correct me if I'm wrong: The American Pit Bull Terrier is actually a Bull dog? The name Terrier means "earth" and the purpose of the Pit Bull was to hold onto large game ? like bull, bear and boar ? I have seen them being used a "catch dogs" for hog hunting and they do an amazing job ! Was that their original purpose , to catch and hold a large animal while the hunters did their work? Then people started to use these dogs LATER as a dog fighting breed/sport ? The guy states in the video that the bull dog ( not the english) and the pit bull are actually the same dog but branch off for different purposes and were given different breed names later.

Pit bull used as a "catch dog" for hog hunting ! Amazing video !

Can anyone send links or articles with true history of the APBT ? I would love to know and learn more

    Thank you !!
