North Alabama Hog Hunters

Are you around Hayden/Cullman?

 

So how many are serious about trying to get something together? Hell there has to be some pigs somewhere.

i live in boldo looking for a group of hog and dog hunters to go with ... i don't have any dogs yet except my blue pit but she isn't a catch dog she is about to have a littler that i will take 2 and make a catch dog ... but i hope to have 3 or 4 plotts soon ... if you go anywhere close i would love to tag along and join in on the fun .. i came from south alabama the delta is a great place to grab a hog but i have been going to dothan here recently to hog hunt ... i just started but love it and im addicted my father in law has been doing it for over 25 yrs so i have been going with him ..

 

How far north does the population reach, anyone? Nothin against south alabama but if we're gonna get a group together we need to try and find the most convienent location.

Im in the Panhandle of Florida. So most of Alabama is close, Dothan is around the corner lol...There is another member on here that lives by me that if he is in town he would love to go and there may be two others....

 

Sounds like we might get a decent group together. I wish I lived just a little further south now.

There are hogs in bankhead. I know there is at least one group of guys that hunt 'em with dogs. One of the guys at JC's guns and tackle goes with them sometimes.

 

rocko, mate, we gotta go, i just moved back to the u.s. and im dying to go out on a hunt.... its been a good 3yrs, i have a nice pup in training for catch, 6mo old hadies 63lbs..... i live in the daytona area, but hell mate ill take a trip... my other two catch dogs need to do some work badly!

 

Bankhead and Black warrior management area has em, while back there was an article in the times about hogs at the sportsplex area.

 

Im always reading about folks in that area slammin em. look at baydog.com and put an ad in sayin you wanna go. If someone is tryin to charge you, go with them, if you can.when you meet em youll see a big ugly 4x4 with metal cages, 2 or 3+ cur dogs or catahoulas, the biggest nastiest out of conformation bulldogs, and a lot of scars and worn gear like catch vests cut collars, and tracking collars. Now if a man and his camp meet this description, he is slammin them, and those are prolley some shutdown hogdogs. Give em his 100 or so and get ready for the the time of yer life, jus tell em you want the hog, mainly for the skull or headmount(trophy),,,then post pics for us to see n enjoy

im from south florida and i hunt everyweeken is more then just gettin ur bulldog on a pig lol ull need cut vest/collars and ull need some bay dogs and a knife thats it if anybody lives around me id be happy to pick yall up and take you hunting with me or bring ur do and we can watch him put the brakes and pig

 

I'm located in Alabaster, Alabama (40 min south of Birmingham). If someone here is getting a hunt together, please....let me know. It's been MANY years since I've been on a hunt and would love to get back into it. My hog dog is over 9 years old now, so I probably wouldn't even bother bringing her along....but I offer beer n guns. Haha.

 

Shit Eli....I'm down! I'm in TN but wouldn't mind a vacation for a couple days and try a couple bulldogs on a hog or two. I had a Eli/Red devil male I use to send off to hunt in Tx with a buddy so I got the cut vest and stuff. I got a couple Chinaman youngsters a year or or two old I'd like to get their feet wet on a hog. There's a guy in Ky I been talking to also. Seems to be alot of hogs up there. I been talking with him on working a Chinaman /Little Gator pup I got about 5 months old on some little hogs.

 

kimo yeah first you wanna start em on about a 50/60 pound sow make sure its a sow a boar will cut em up bad as they are inexperienced hunters then after u roll em and few times with so hogs is time for the hunting game test throw em in there with a big boar and see if the get scared and quit. but if they dont uve got ur self a hog dog. down here in south florida i hunting ranches orange groves and lake ockeechobee. my dog feed there self and my family i get paid around 500 for a weekend of hog killing. if you get the right contracts u could make this a living lol

 

thats the key is getting to know the land owners and developing solid relationships..people now days just wont let anyone that comes a knockin hunt thier land..and even if you have permission to hunt the land owner usually has stipulations and they really dont want you to bring a bunch of strangers on thier land..but most will tolerate a couple.back years ago people were alot more trusting than they are now..i mean u have to worry bout poachers,people stealing,gettin sued..so its not as easy as 123 anymore.
