This hypothetical statement is my opinion from a time when battling dogs went on in the USA with out jail time for owners.
APBT line continued from 1935 as a fighter from a line, other fighting types SBT even BT also came . In fast enough time owners of SBT BT distance there dogs from the function of the APBT
If a few SBT even BT made the cut . there line went into APBT gota figure .

  3. If the KC had got their hands on the APBT they would have probably ended up looking like the AST, now we have even more offshoots to contend with with these Bullies.

  5. Yeah I know, I'm talking about England.

Didn't the UKC in the States call them American Staffordshire Terriers because they didn't want to associate the name with fighting? The AKC wasn't too bothered and stuck with the name the American Pitbull Terrier, both are basically show versions of the working dogs anyway.

  6. It could be the other around but I think that's the thought behind it all.

  7. Just checked, it was the other way around.

AKC called the breed Staffordshire terrier , then in the 1970s the changed it to American Staffordshire terrier , so not to be confused with the Staffordshire Bull terrier that was recognized by the AKC at that time ,,, ADBA and the UKC called them American Pit bull terrier

Since they were not going to lose if the SBT well conditioned for the pit weighed on average 32 - 38 pounds vs. APBT conditioned on average 42 - 46 pounds, the weight difference worked in favor of the APBT.
At the same weight an SBT vs APBT, SBT had several battles won, including SBT females against APBT females.

APBT comes in all sizes , and when match his made its at a weight the owner wants 30lbs APBT 30lbs SBT ,, no one matches dogs giving away weight , very few SBTs have beaten APBT ,,

I get quite a few APBTs that under 30lbs right off the chain. Got one here now that would only be around 25lbs. conditioned. I'd find it hard to believe she wouldn't blow through most modern SBT in short order. I'm sure there's still pockets of working ones somewhere in the world but it's unlikely they would ever succeed in the box consistently these days. Maybe a fluke here and there at best. They are simply out of their league in modern times in that sport. Just a companion animal more times than not any more.

the kc show SBT would have trouble beating a terrier , there are working versions , some have met APBT and the percent of SBT who won was tiny , and never happened much , most of the well known working SBT ware around before APBT came to Europe

All APBT all with in the SBT standard I could post hundreds below the SBT 38lbs range so its a myth APBT can't meet SBT at their own weight

At equal weight and condition, I can see how the most gifted and athletic Staff might defeat an average mouth, one dimensional basic calibre APBT, but against anything from a working APBT camp with a credible standard and selection strategy, I don't see the Staff lasting very long.. Saw it numerous times, seeing is believing and IMO Staff loses 99% of the time.

Recall some of the Bull Terriers the English Staffords and their crosses. And the 1st APBT imports from the good old USA.Were great times and yes there were some legends amongst these breeds.

I once saw a video of the white Staff in photo you posted @F.W.K.
Have to admit, he was a proper bulldog.

Regarding today's SBT, they are bred for parades, those pugs are not suitable for game dog the Bull Terrier and the AMSTAFF...

My comment was directed at the SBT for game from the 80s, like Gr Ch Rocky 5xW of 30lbs, that small pure SBT would hit any APBT of its weight, it could never be measured because in those years the APBTs imported from the USA were large and heavy (38 to 45 pounds).
