I'll admit it: 3rd parties get no love in this current system and a change is well overdue but I... just don't like Palin. At all. McCain has managed to make me believe that he is more than "Lil Bush" and while I am not conservative (gay marriage, abortion in an already overpopulated country where there is no system in place to check the amount of births, who gives a damn?) I do see the potential for some change there. At the moment though, it just isn't enough for me

    Overpopulated how?

If the whole world's population was placed on a land area the size of Texas, everyone would be able to have a floor space the size of the average American home and the population density would be on par with Paris, France. Not to mention we have more dense, forested areas in America now than we did in the 1800s. More than 50% (I think) of the populated NE is forest. We do have plenty of resources to meet the requirement of population. Mix that in with the great problem solving abilities of humans and we're good to go. Overpopulation is a myth perpetuated by liberals on a way to excuse their stance on many issues i.e. abortion and gay marriage.

"Why bring kids into an already overpopulated world?"
"Gays won't be able to bring kids into a world already overpopulated."

I ask, "why spread lies to excuse your own ideology?".

We all hear that McCain voted 90% of the time with Bush. That number discloses nothing without looking at the issues. Which ones would you consider bad policies?

Is McCain a partisan like many claim? Is he really a neo-con Lil Bush like many say? Here's some quick numbers.

    Washinton Post:
Obama voted inline with his party (Democrats) 96% of the time
McCain voted inline with his party (Republicans) 88% of the time

Oh my God. Why is it every Obama supporter says the same thing when you ask them regarding their reason for supporting him. "We need change."? Since when did change automatically equate to a positive?

Raising taxes and tariffs will hurt the economy. It drives businesses away from our country. Why do you think there are billions of dollars in off-shore accounts from US companies? Why do you think businesses keep going overseas? It is because the government continues taxing these businesses an extremely high amount and they also unfairly over-tax the rich. The rich are taxed very dis-proportianately and this causes a whole lot of money to leave our country. Whether you like or hate the rich (as it seems most democrats do hate the rich or at least target them to play on heartstrings), the fact remains that they provide the jobs for our economy to thrive. Raising taxes does nothing but run them off.

Also, socialized healthcare and overall increased spending to benefit those near or below welfare will do nothing but bring a burden to those who are not near welfare. A large portion of the people who claim welfare are actually abusing it. This should be fixed first.

I grew up absolutely poor. I did not have Christmas. My mom made my clothes. My dad NEVER took welfare or any kind of government assistance. NEVER.

He worked his ass off and we made it out of poverty and he is actually doing very well now.

Making it easier for the poor does nothing but convince them that they can be lazy and skate by. This puts a burden on our country's productivity and economy. I am absolutely against the raising of my taxes to help those who are abusing the system.

Socialism has failed in every country that has ever implemented it!!!!!
Why the hell are so many people convinced that more government control will help our country when the proof shows otherwise?

Stop supporting Obama because he says he supports "change". Find out what his ideals of change will lead to before you jump on the bandwagon.

Oh no, I'm not saying the entire country is filling up to the brim and perhaps I worded it wrong, but I don't even see how that could be plausible for a case for gay marriage. As for abortion, I don't think a person should birth a baby they know they can't care for if they are not going to put it up for adoption or even try to seek some financial aid. Kids aren't cheap and there are things people can do, but people that won't even try disgust me. But if you are going to do something meaningful then by all means. Your kid doesn't deserve to die because you can't keep them legs closed, but he doesn't deserve to suffer for it if he lives, either. And I don't even want to go into cases of rape.

As the race goes on, Obama looks more and more like a tool, with many people voting for him for all the wrong reasons. I think I'm going to be doing some digging on the economic strategies of each to round in my decision but for now it'll still be the lesser of two evils for me. Also APBT lovers should keep an eye on Obama, seems that humaniacs have his ear right now

I think you'll be surprised about learning the policies between the two nominees. Obama is so far left he's basically pandering to the Karl Marx socialist ideology which could only happen in a fair world where everyone was respected and worked to their full capabilities. Unfortunately, anyone beyond the age of Barney and Friends know this is not the case. His ideas have failed the Soviet Union and most recently China. Not to mention the Baltic states along with the Italian Communist Party and the French Communist Party.

Most is knowledge I've picked up over the years. I love history:o.

Look into a guy named Roger Sedjo and John Addler. Most everything else can be pulled right off of government websites with issues people in congress have voted on. It's as simple as finding out about what issues are important to you and then digging deeper to understand why people voted yea or nay on them. IMO, Obama is truly and deeply a partisan. I don't think he really knows the deeper roots of the issues and votes along with his party and what sounds good on the outside. Take for example the bill Bush vetod that "guaranteed more child health care". Doesn't it sound bad that he would do this? But why did he do it? First, it would entice people already covered by the private sector to start leeching off government funds. Second, it exceeded the presiden't own budget by some $23 billion. We would have never been able to afford it. He wasn't entirely against it, but he only wanted a $5 billion increase in funding for it.

I don't like Obama, and I don't like McCain. I think they would both be terrible for America, though I feel Obama would be worse on many levels.

I definitely don't like Biden, but I like Palin. I'm just not sure I like her enough to vote for McCain, because I feel he has been in Washington too long and is no different than the rest of the Politicians.

I plan on doing a write in vote, because I can no longer vote for the lesser of the two evils.

I'm an independent...but I just saw this and it worried me:

Gov. Sarah Palin made her first potentially major gaffe during her time on the national scene while discussing the developments of the perilous housing market this past weekend.
Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."

You are a VP candidate and you don't know what Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do? Especially with the state of the economy and housing market.

Don't be fooled. The government had a major hand in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They weren't really "private companies".

Most of us KNEW who (or at least which side) we were supporting before ANY of this even started.....

I have No respect for a Liberal Dem... I will NOT vote for one as their platform is right now.... Does that mean i agree with the Republicans? nope not 100% but i'll vote Republican if no more that JUST TO KEEP a Dem out....

I do however have a question for the Liberals.....

    Why are you a Liberal?

I consider myself a libertarian. Seems to be much more different than a liberal, but I'll give you my theory.

Conservatives - Believe you have the right to earn equality through hard work and right decisions. You must take responsibility for your own actions and should not rely on someone else to bail you out if a difficult situation arises.

Liberals - Believe everyone has the right to be born on equal grounds. Society as a whole will do better as a collective group. I scratch your back, you scratch mine type of attitude.

Of course, I'm slightly biased but this is just my impression of why some people are conservatives and some are liberals. "If you are not a liberal at 21, you have no heart. If you are still a liberal at 40, you have no head." A trend is for people to become more conservative as they age. I think it has to do with responsibilities. As a young adult, you don't really have a family. You want to help those around you and want people to succeed as a whole. This is why you vote on a liberal platform. You see it as doing good for society. Doing your part to make sure everyone is taken care of. As you get older, you usually get a family and your focus shifts from society to your family. You want what's best for them. Conservative platforms tend to cater to individuals and families better than a liberal platform.
