    Soze,
lol thank you in regards to the book! I've been told by others i should write something, who knows i might but people don't seem to like the truth. The thing with me is that i bypass the bullshit, cut out the middle men & go straight to the sources in those that were actually breeding at the time & actually there!

The Sorrells dogs always looked more bulldog than terrier to me.

    C_Note,
The Joshua dogs also go back to Painter lines, Painter bought up Scott's yard when Scott got out of the breed in '82 i believe. That's why theres only 2 maybe at most 3 generations of Foundation Scott dogs & they don't reappear until '98 or '99. However some lines have maintained type & workability & aren't ugly as sin

Not me bud ! I dont know enough about AB to fill up one page and ive been around 100 of them .Ive got a few friends as we speak that own them..Still a polular dog in the South .I can say prob most impressive thing I can say is they are faster and more athletic than they look for the most part.

I figured about the Joshua dogs. They look like AB/apbt 70/30 split to me. I like the ugly dogs, but the JDJ breeders seem to thrive off ugly and huge. I remember in the late 90s early 00s Scott was lookin to get back in the dogs. I got my AB in 99 down from these https://baileysbulldogs.homestead.com/males.html

Also have to add that the picture i posted of my brindle bitch above (somewhere lol) with her hens might look like a cute picture but she's most definately working. The dogs & chickens had an odd alliance it almost seemed the hens realized that they need the dogs & that as long as they were around they were safe. Noting could come into the yard & get near them with the dogs out. We had lots of predators Bears, coyote, fox, fishers & weasels as well as free range dogs. Rabbits on the other hand i tried to have a couple times but the dogs got them & took care of them. So yes they are great farm utility & guard dogs!

    C_Note,
YES the Joshua dogs do look AB/APBT x, i cant see how most dont see that lol. Not that i like a "pretty" AB but i do prefer the Painter type, Not a fan of the Bully AB's. Also very few know about Scott getting out of the breed or that Painter bought up his kennel. Again should be easy to see if theres NO Scott lineage in pedigrees for almost 20 years lol.

    The Bailey dogs
Theres definately some variation in type with the Bailey dogs, do you remember the sire to your dog? im definately seeing, Painter, Stover, WEB, Johnson & some hybrid type stuff similar to the Gunslinger dogs.

I cant find a pedigree on the Cody dog but I'd say he was definately a hybrid. The head is saying a more mastiff type Bully influence but the body is saying performance. Id be interested in what the pedigree says comparitively to what the dog says lol. Almost want to say a Williamson type in there & Williamson also bred back to Painter lines. Probably some good workers off the Cody dog

Didn’t Scott come back into the dogs with a catch weight apbt with a cropped tail? My only slight problem with American bulldogs was the claim that they are the original bulldog that the apbt descend from. I do believe they have a bulldog influence but bulldogs are sporting dogs always have been. catchdogs have always had a mastiff influence to make them useful to the general farmer. Farm mastiffs where talked about in the uk until the kc decided the only real mastiff was the estate guardian. But will we really ever know? I don’t think so. However they’ve become a lot more specific for certain jobs depending on bloodline Johnson types for man work Scott’s for pigs etc and nobody I’ve spoken to uses them for holding pissed off bulls and that imo is what a bulldog is not a flock guardian or a hunting dog.

Definately like snowbird more, i find country boy because of size is a bit over done & slow. hard to really get a feel with the old grainy video though.

This is exactly the type of dog that ab breeders should be trying to produce enough mass to hold a man but not to much that would slow it down a true American catch dog(yes I want that name to stick lmao American bulldog is misleading)

Ah yes Gr Ch OSW Scott's Crusher lol (insert eyeroll) no i dont think it was a catchweight pit looks too mastiffy id say more a WEB mutt. I dont believe the AB is the direct ancestor to the Old Working Bulldogs but a relative for sure like the apbt. No that is one thing that we do know is that we will never truly know lol. All we can do is theorize & speculate at this point. Makes for interesting conversation

Cody was my dogs sire. 277AD723-6F9A-494E-A66A-54EF40992FCC.png Not sure if that helped any. I know nothing about ABs peds. I remember a few key names from waaay back but that it. Cody was a farm dog forreal! They had bulls, cows, and horses. The breeder showed me vids of Cody doing catchwork and we went outside while the breeders son tended the animals with Cody. I was impressed at how smart he was. He was the boss and the other animals knew it. A bulldog if I ever seen one! The pup I had I named Hendrix after Jimmi... best dog I ever owned, hands down

There are some of the lines still around that go back to Sargent rock & Stover's dutchess, Yes they work as catchdogs & have been tested on man. Proven dogs, Jack is a very traditional breeder & only stands behind his dogs when they have proven to be worthy
