What's up everyone? I currently don't own a bulldog, but I'm getting my bread right so that I can. Just trying to get enough yard space. But anyway, my interest for Pitbulls has sparked again powerfully. I've been reading a lot of books on the topic lately so that my next dog(currently own a UKC "Pitbull" Bully, that I bought when I was naive) lives an optimal life. I might get into hog hunting, or some kind of sport(weight pull, etc). But yea, just trying to network, gain knowledge and spread knowledge. I hope this forum will be a great experience.

Well done and all the best.. I had same path in beginning too. It took 10 years of networking and learning to get real dogs and get to know top folks.. By that time folks already knew me.

"My name is __________, and I have a problem", that would ring true around here too.

I had a health issue late last year and when things did not look good I moved 15+ dogs here and there. I hated to see them go but when you can't clean them or feed them it is best to move them on.

I got down to an amount that was manageable and even to the point where one more deal would get me out of the dogs altogether. And for a stretch that was the plan.

Now that I am doing much better am I showing great follow through on the plan of getting rid of all the dogs? Nope. Just bred my male for pups in return. Been working the shit of out of my best female in order to breed her to my male. Tried to cut a deal with a guy for a well bred young female that should click with my male. And just lined up an older female to be sent away for one last run int he brood pen.

I have problems like most everyone else, bulldogs happen to be my biggest,. LOL

Good to hear your doing typical stupid shit a good dog will make you do! I don’t have room but I’m gonna brew up something soon if these I got pass! My males died and all I have is gyps. Sorry to hear you been unwell Slim and so glad you bounced back again.. Having 15 dogs be a dream for me, most I ever fed was 7.. Maybe better rephrase that to say 'having 15 of YOUR dogs would be a dream'.
Giving up is impossible man!.. I go to bed thinking about dogs and wake up thinking about kennels, my wife said she'd keep the dogs, but get rid of me.. Problem solved! :))

    Same boat.

Two stories on mind sets when it comes to the dogs.

We were looking at some property for sale on the beaches of NC. My wife picked out a primo house and spot right on the beach. I started looking around and she asked if I were having second thoughts about the purchase. I said, "Nope, I'm trying to figure out how to get a car axle to stay buried in this beach sand". That flew as well as a lead filled ballon.

We were looking at the new Chevy Tahoes and comparing them to the Ford Explorer. I broke out my pocket tape measure ans measured the back while she was looking at room, and mileage and price and warranty and financing and the stuff important to her. She asked what I was doing and I was measuring to see if my dog box would fit or whether I could get two sky kennels in the back with the seats up.

Another ship that sailed to the bottom of the ocean.

And I do, over the years I have prided myself on the most retarded of retarded Red Boy dogs. LOL

Like when every one else describes their definition of retarded. I'm the guy sitting across the table holding the trump card of retarded. LOL

Haha, yea pitbulls are an addiction, once my interest sparks no one around me can get me to shut up about the topic.

Most will think your crazy, the rest just won't ever understand what it is like to be bit by the bulldog bug.

Over the years I've become closer to the dogs and less so to people. The dogs are far more loyal.

I've always felt it takes a special individual to become truly obssessed with this breed.

Accurate, positive education of others and people who will be good ambassadors of the breed are in dire need with in the breed these days.

Good luck with your expierence. Hope you find what your looking for. If it's information, you've come to the right site.

I hate to see anyone banned and don't know if he has or not but sometimes you have to look out for folks who ain't got enough smarts to look out for them self.I'm all for that young Bulldog hitting the end of his chain at anything ! But its a big difference between Bulldogs and Men.

Information, contacts and just people to talk to about this topic. I rather not talk someone's head off who doesn't give a damn about what I say. Waste of time.
Yea the thing about me, is I pull no punches and I keep it real. Even at my own detriment. I believe the best way to keep the breed alive is for responsible and educated people to own the APBT. With these dogs they need an owner who will go the extra mile, whether it's the diet, exercise/conditioning, obedience and they need a job. Lazy owners that want a lap dog should stay out of the breed IMO. So far i've read Richard Stratton's first two books and Bob Steven's book. Are there any other books that would be beneficial? I noticed big similarities with Bob Stevens and Richard Stratton(Maybe if you read one, you read them all). I was interested in The Life of Humbug , and also "The Keep Book" I've seen some user promote on here. I would be interested in "The Complete Gamedog" but the prices are ridiculous.

The Pit Bull Bible is a great book. The guy that wrote the book will get mixed reviews but he compiled a ton of useful and pertinent information.

The Complete Game Dog is a good one and it is expensive. I loaned mine out some years ago and it turned into a gift.

The search box on this forum will cover most everything or at least it will spark a conversation to get it covered.

I chase down the free stuff on a site like this before I forked out cash for information that is free.

But I am cheap like that.
