Are you talking about a johnson american bulldog?I'm thinking not cuz I'm thinking that would make no sense.

if you wanna breed a patt to an AB? why not just get a staff or Apbt? its tried and true and you have a better idea of what you are getting in general.

I used to own a Johnson type, He is a good guard dog for my buddy I sold him to...Breeding don't make sense. Guard dog to hunting dog, equals problems. What is your intentions, a bigger hunting dog? ..... a smaller more athletic guard dog?

I agree MCS..Thats what the original bulldog was for is protection. He wouldnt go after farm animals as he was thier protector also.It got screwed up though from breeders that were looking to make em somethin else.So thier is no tellin what u may find. But yes high prey drive mixed with a breed thats meant for protection doesnt sound the way to go.jmo.

And i mean the early Americans bred these dogs for protection. They knew what kinda dog they needed.I dont know what type of dogs they were when they first got here. But after they got here the Americans bred for protection. They were your famr dogs watch over the farms.Gaurded both humans and livestock.MCS i know you already know all this.Shit u prob know more than me about this breed.I know you have put in alot of study on this breed.

U exactly right bamaman, it is a wonderful breed when used to catch, herd and protect the farm, laid back around the house. And some folks took and added more drive to them, which some say is more original, but whatever they still aren't the same metality as a Patt or Pitbulldog, those breeds got that terrier seek and destroy hunt mode.

just my 2 cents but its not something i would tinker with if I had small children or if I had neighbors with small children..just my 2 cents.

  12. I crossed a American bulldog with a jack Russell once by mistake the pups weren't one or the other they was to big for most hunting didn't look right for guarding and the whole litter ended up vicious attacking every animal they could find

I had jack russells,,,I love them there very loyal,, smart and super hardy BUT very nasty to strangers,,,,LOL....! If I had to cross,,,I'd keep the dogs white and go with a colby dog.

Seems to be the height of fashion to cross various breeds mainly because there are suckers out there that will pay ££££££ or $$$$$$ for them.Leave the hunting terriers to be bred to hunting terriers and the ambulls to ambulls.Better still dont breed NOTHING.
