This is Hurley, he belongs to my mans' best friend, though may become ours.... though that's another (long) story.
I was just curious of what your ideas are as to what breed(s) Hurley may be.
Our friend got him as a Basset Hound/Dalmatian cross but I really don't see it.

Here are some photos of him, it was hard to get them as I woke him up from a nap and he didn't want to stand. Haha

I can't help but think he's gotta have some Patterdale in him, though I could be totally wrong, of course.

His nose tells me he's got some kind of scent dog in him, he's a compulsive sniffer!
He's comically human oriented/friendly and has very high prey/chase drive.

He's got a very short, smooth coat. His ears are crazy, sometimes one stands up and I think one may be bigger than the other.
He is 16" at the withers and weighs around 15-20lbs.

Obviously we will never know what this little mutt is, nor does it really matter, but the guessing game is always fun. :D

    Here's some pics..young pups at about 6 weeks..all pure pit bulldog... Teacup.jpg
They are grown now and average weight is low to mid 20 pounds

    pinocle's 004.jpg This a 7 year old pure female I have...18-20 pounds
So, as you can see, that little guy might not be a cross...AND I sure don't think he's corgi/hound...roflmao
Nice pup you posted...guess you'll have to wait and see how he develops to know better

I'd be curious to see a pic of him later as he grows

I will keep you all updated, he may become ours (we'll know on Friday) so I will definitely have a ton of photos from now until he's mature. That photo you posted (Matrix/Temper "The Bat") looks a lot like Hurls when he was little.

Man... I sure wish we could get our hands on a tiny APBT. My daughter is DYING for her own dog {although I know I'll do the majority of the handling! lol}. We keep looking at small breed, mixed breeds.... but really... what she wants personality wise is really a tiny pit bull! lol There is just nothing that can compare to them for us so we've passed up so many dogs just hoping to find one that fits the bill but no luck so far. We got a rescued Pat and she HATES my daughter. Little bitch...

if patterdales are rare than most likely not patterdale.. no way of telling if it has patterdale, especoally with all varietiesof patterdale, long coat fell type, slape coated type..

ive seen crossbreeds before that dont resemble either parent at all-e.g a ridgebackx labrador that looked like a greyhound..He does looka lot like a patterdale though

Aw I'm sorry about that Zoe. :( Stupid beautiful bitch. How could she not LOVE Raven?
I would like a little APBT one day.
Or ANY real bulldog I guess. Haha!

    I love Leslie H's dog Soleil. I think she's a Sorrels dog........

Patterdales aren't too common around here, but they aren't rare either.
There's a ton of small game around here though I don't know if (m)any people hunt with dogs anymore....

I know! This is the first dog that has ever hated her and it broke her little heart. :(

I actually looked into this for Roxy. Talked to a ton of terrier folk in Canada. They said most hunting with dogs tends to be done in Ontario as it's just better terrain, plus there is a big ''anti hunting'' attitude in B.C.. Surprise. Surprise. For all the things I do like about B.C., that's one thing I hate about it. I was told you have to be REALLY careful as you can get in shit for harassing wild life or some crap. I was told that most people who want to work their dogs do it on private land, say for a farmer who is having rodent issues.

Poor little Raven. :( Hope she finds her dog soon!
Yes, I know that my moms' uncle who farmed cattle and vegetables always used to hire these people with these little JRT/Fiest type dogs that would get rid of all the critters that caused different issues on the property, I don't know what/if he paid them.

It would be cool to find someone around here who farms poultry or something and needs critter control in exchange for meat.
That'd be frigging perfect, these mutts could work for their food!

I know a lot of people around here who do have hunting breeds (such as Terriers, Curs and Beagles) keep them as farm/bush "all purpose" dogs y'know?

Now that would be a dream come true... to have a working dog and actually be able to work it! My brother hunts back in Ontario so I was asking him if his friends ever use dogs and they do, but more the gun dogs. I'd love to get into some real work but being a city girl, only thing to hunt around here is the big rats at Burger King! lol

Haha! I agree that it would be a dream come true.
I don't know exactly what animals people hunt around here. Moose and deer for sure...
I could probably go Grouse hunting with the dogs.... I imagine it's fully legal.

I wish they had more info on the legalities of hunting with dogs here. I ordered the book from the ministry about hunting when I was looking into falconry a few years back (kinda put that aside for now as CFer's can get aspergilus from birds which can really fuck them up) but it didn't really answer my questions concerning hunting with dogs without getting in shit. :/

Yeah I haven't been able to find much about it either. All the info I do find is inconclusive.

That is a blast too. Seeing a dog in with a bunch of rats, quick paced fun and Canada is pretty relaxed about hunting from what I am told.

In other thoughts to this discussion. Patterdales are becoming a dime a dozen, seen 4 dogs that were patterdales or crosses at a local shelter. Patterdales are the new money maker in people who owned pit bulls at one time or anotehr.

You know... I was never really that drawn to terriers until I watched a show where they had a bunch of JRT's working on a farm to clear out some rats. Holy hell those buggers were fast! It was awesome! lol

Yes I see them quite often around here. I don't think that it's the "Pit Bull people" breeding them though, it's the small dog people.
No one I've talked to about "Pit Bulls" around here even knows what a Patterdale is.
