Olympus, How long have you been working the black dogs? How long have you been breeding them? I've read all your posts on here and Im seeing a big push to sell some puppies. Dont get me wrong I would never tell someone what they can or cannot do with their dogs. I read in one of your posts that you have never culled a terrier? I wouldnt try to get into your business like this , but with all the posts about puppies for sale, I'd like to read more about your involvement with the working terrier. Not looking to start a war, just creating an oppurtunity to help get the info out as to what you do with the terriers and stuff like that.

  2. I have been with the breed 3.5 years. I was introduced to the breed from a couple who moved here from california and has had patts for many years. I needed a dog to accomodate my lifestyle of traveling and hunting and fishing and ranching but that was convenient for a college student. after getting to know the californians pair of patts and seeing first hand the charisma and heart these little dogs had I started looking for one of my own. I found her from Mr. Fox up in oklahoma and drove up there and got her at 7 weeks old. I spent all my time training this dog and by train i mean put the dog in situations where its natural instincts can thrive. I started her on mice in the bath tub then wild mice outside, then mole hunting in hayfields then opposum, raccoon, rabbit, dove, squirrel, duck, pheasant, groundhog, blood tracking deer, riding on the kayak, working cattle and goats, she has killed snakes and skunks unfortunately too. Athena never stopped impressing me when it comes to being a great companion and even better hunter. I wanted to see the breed grow here in the south but it looks as though only one pup is stayin in texas besides the female i am keeping. one sold in kansas, louisiana, and a sale pending to new york state and a sale pending to massachusettes. this was her first litter and there was excellent confirmation and gaminess bred into these pups. I didn't do it for the money, the money is just part of raising good dogs. Athena will only have 2 more litters her whole life. I am not offended at all that you question my dogs or my rearing of them, and quite frankly I love the opportunity to talk patterdales so feel free to ask me questions.

  5. That may be true but how many so called $400-$1000 dogs end up given away when theygrow up to be lil Tasmanian Devils? Im looking for a couple Patterdales, but $500 for an 8 week old dog is to steep for me< so I will wait around and hopefully get me a couple to run after hogs...............

Dam them bullydog breeders are raking it in then, calikinping bullies sell on the average 3g and up
must make you guys want to throw up. people with big money never have a problem laying money down
for a companion dogs then the f dogs go live in the lap of luxury. That's where I want my dogs to go except for 1 or two
the reality is that if they would only pay little chips 3 to 5 hundred I can bet my ass that if the dogs get into something bad
they wont even have the cash to pay the vet bill so crybabies over cash when it comes to buying a dog
need to kick rocks. if I have dogs for 1300 and somebody offers less than 8 they are getting physically tossed out of my yard that's
for sure. I really hate it when broke ass people want to buy somthing and they think they get to put the price.
The dog is there thats the price all you have to say is just yes or no save all that other sh for somebody who cares.

  8. Jeep/redboy I agree that the prices are extremely overated. I run hogs here in SW Fl and recently got interested in running smaller game, I really like the patterdale look, tenacity and small size so I started investigating the breed>>>> I met a nice guy in Texas that has some rough haired dogs out of the mason Line... He said he would give me a 1 yr old male for $300..... but when i add in the trip price (Texas to SW Florida) and look @ the fact that I have access to inexpensive started dogs, I cant justify the expenditure. They are good looking dogs though arent they?

jmo but most are passed from hunter to hunter. i would NEVER buy one from any puppy peddler lookin to make a quick buck. there are several here in the good ole u.s.a lookin to scam someone ready to dive into patterdales headfirst. by all means go hunt with one or both of the parents, then go and hunt with another hunter and his/her dogs. do your homework and you'll find what fits your needs. how many of you would pay $500.00 let alone a $1000.00 for a dog that might go to ground and never see again?
