I would take him to another vet. If you don't know a good one in the area, maybe look for online reviews through Yelp or Google. My pup had something similar when he was about that age. They treated it as kennel cough and it went away eventually.

Go to another Vet fast! But try cough medicine worked for me a few times I had kennel cough. But get the pup checked could lead to a fatal respiratory infection for a pup that age. Yis Ole Man

Could be kennel cough, could be heartworms, could be allergies. Find a competent vet. Let us know what it was when you figure it out, curious to know. I thought I read your vet says its normal? I've never had a pup that coughed unless something was wrong.

Imho, it sounds like kennel cough. If it were a adult dog, I would suggest an garlic concoction. Since it's a pup get it to a competent vet. The vet should prescribe clavamox, for bordatella... Hope you find a good vet. Let us know the outcome. You might want to say where you are, and I an sure one of the board members can point you in the right direction. HTH

Well i'm from europe, probably you dont even know for our small country (Slovenia), where we dont have clavamox.. i look on the internet for anything similar to those "medical treatments" (i'm sorry for my english), but havent found nothing yet.. there is some antibiotics for humans, but i dont know how good it is, and cant find out what is proper dose for puppy..

i made a visit today at one vet, and the answer is: maybe you should wait few days, and then come back..
tomorrow i'm going to another vet in other city, but i got more answers on that forum, than from any of those "VETS"...

can you tell me what is best i can do for now ?? maybe some food that helps ?
what is the best watter temperature for my puppy ?? is it better if its warm?? for now i dont have him on leash when we're out, so he dont pull and choke with collar..

Okay, there is a human equivalent, its called augmentin(get it online) a ten pound pup would get 62.5 mg orally. I would just give, one horn of garlic crushed, then add a little jack mackerel and 2 tbsp of canola oil. Twice a day, every twelve hours. Should be gone in a weeks time... Of course I am no vet, just a concerned board member, good luck.. let us know how it goes

I wouldn't give this puppy any medication until you know what it is you are treating you don't just start pumping a sick pup with medication without first knowing what's wrong. Kennel Cough is pretty easy to diagnose I can't imagine any lic vet being able to practice medicine and not know much about dogs that just sounds crazy. The vet should be running some basic blood work and possibly some x-rays. Kennel cough is highly contagious so if you have other dog's in the home that haven't been properly vaccinated against it then they will most likely become infected with it as well. Is this pup even up to date on it's shots? Where did you get the pup from? Look instead of asking stranger's what to do take this pup to a lic vet and have them check it over and get you're pup UTD on it's vaccinations.

Also keep the pup warm, if it's inside or out. It should have adequate bedding(no fine shaving). I would feed a raw diet, if you are not. Warm water is okay in the winter. If you don't have an in closed yard, get a puppy harness. Don't want any accidents. I feed raw chicken quarters, brown rice, whole egg(shell also, boiled for about 2mins) greens(kelp, chopped) and half a vitamin pill. HTH

the problem is that he's not coughing when we are at vets, so they cant tell me much from this video..
at 8 weeks he was roundworm, and got his shot (parvovirus, plague,) and got microchip.. he didnt got even nothing for worms.. than i got him, 12.11. when he was 3 months old, and imidiatly took him to vet, where he got shot for parvo again, and plague, and vanguard plus 7 + 1st pill against worms..
than they told me he's in good shape and that he dont need nothing else until 4 months, when he will get shot for rabbies.. they also told me, shots will slow down his growth, and if its not neceserry, its better to get shots later ..
once i read info. that puppy should get roundwormed every 2 weeks until 16th week, but she just lauged at me when i asked, so i felt like i'm the most stupid man standing ..

Imho, you are doing the right thing, which is trying to get help. Your experience with the vets in your area, confirm just because they are licensed, don't mean they are competent. So in your case strangers(which sometimes care more than family), our your answer(hell even the vet is a stranger). The key is with any info you get you have to filter it, and use what you think is best. If a person has a yard of dogs, it's certain meds they should have on hand. Also know when to use them. 98% of all vets are either incompetent, money hungry or both. lol if you plan on having a yard, get some health books(in your case, I would get some anyway). If you got your pup from your area, ask the breeder for their vet. If they don't have one you need to find one, soon. This is my opinion, HTH

Ok here is the thing antibiotics only need to be given IF their is a secondary bacterial infection present. Kennel Cough will usually run it's course and go away on it's own with no treatment within a few weeks so long as there are no complications . The only time you need to administer medication is if there are other symptoms present that point towards infection. This is why it's important to have a vet see the dog so they can make the determination if antibiotics and cough suppressants are actually needed and if any further testing needs to be done. You don't want to give antibiotics if they are not needed. Please read these links below and call a vet first thing tell them you believe that you're pup may have kennel cough that the pup has been coughing on and off and have them see the pup first thing. The pup does NOT need to be coughing at the time of the visit for the vet to make a diagnosis they are going to go off the symptoms present and what the bloodwork/x-ray's/cultures if ordered look like. Do not assume that your pup has kennel cough just because people online said so the vet is the one who needs to see the pup and make the diagnosis based on what they see. If it is in fact kennel cough there is enough info in the links below to give you and idea of what to expect.
