just the time building the pens three sides Wood, bottom and fronts mesh, ones you build you cagess, breed all does you can get your hands on, then breed them twice in a row, then on month breed / next rest one monthm, and repeat after rest-month, keeps feeder numbers up., and accounts for deads i the litter, cause they are not much good for feeding till 5lbs or 6lbs(guts and all, fur everything), for each dog.

ov grow your half your feeders to 7-9lbs and see what you got for males /females, feed your males, (maybe keep one as spare buck(chances are you will feed him if you get low, but keep one male as insurance for main bucks accidrental death)

if your doing one dog raise 5 does, if your raiseing 5 dogs raise 15-20 does, plus suppliment with fish, beef, horse, goat , sheep...

the works more about changing faulty water stems, and making sure your does are bred on time to have enough supply, and book-keeping of the records of which ones to breed and when...and when due, and wean dates.... but once you got that licked its easy, and you just get a seprat calinder for the rabbits in the shop.

its just breeding rabbits, for meat easy, just as long as your does raise the young, only had on out of thirty rabbits eat its young

I was thinking the same since I watch it on tv that rabbit can multiply rapidly and the best food for them is grass. it's a lot of work but if u had a lot of dogs. hmmmm. I think its a good Idea...

my old man breeds rabbits for food. i ask him to gimme some for dog feed and he tells me to get stuffed.he just keeps the skins for me for flirt pole but he doesnt gimme the meat, his words are that he doesnt raise these these things to feed to bloody dogs. he uses new zealands. gets about 12 kits per litter each time. he tried with flemish giants but they take too long to get big and the meat to bone ratio is better with the NZ. he's gonna try crossing the two and see if its worth it.
all his setups are steel cages, these are big bunnies and they can chew threw timber in no time...even thin wire. he writes down the date that he puts the doe in the bucks cage and then 28 days later puts in the nest box.
The heat in summer is the biggest issue around here he lost 9 in one day last summer. We saved one by putting it in the fridge when it was almost dead. 2 hours later we opened the door and it was sitting up, he kept that as a breeder now, he couldnt bring himself to kill that one, it had been in his fridge once already. now he doesnt breed in the peak of summer and he has about 15 large coke bottles that he fills with water and freezes and puts them in the cages to keep the breeders cool. im going over there tonight, ill try get some pics of his setup.

I was till a dog got off and chewed the feet off a couple of the does feet in the hanging cages. So after having that happen i feed the breeders. Winters here now anyway.

this year was the worst year for welping the kits, i started with 6mos old does and bucks this year. new mothers arnt the best mothers i found this year.

been feeding venison, turkey, chicken. and beef scrapes from the butcher. lil more traveling but its easy to keep the meat frozen in the winter, outside in plastic bins.

Hey Buck- Are you able to get enough fat in their diets by just feeding them the rabbits, venison, turkey, chicken, and beef scraps? Heck the only thing I see there that might have enough fat would be the beef scraps and maybe the chicken and turkey skins. Do they do good with just that or are you adding fat to their diet as well? I would think in Canada you would have to make sure your dogs were good and fat during the winter months to survive the cold.

AAll you get is grisle for meat wise, mostly fat, ankkes, necks, ribs, hips, with mest scraps, but over all... all fat/bones.
So protien/tripe and organs, comes from chicken, turkey, duck, goose, venison, rabbits.. but like isaid butchers give you the crap, they cant use. I find it worth plugging 2freezers ina shed all year. Ones fat, bones,, organs... hides. I package it now like any hunter paper wraps there meat with meatwrap.

You will change you ways of storing, feeding, and diet type. Till you find what works.

If there coats lacking shine, or dog energy ad more fat, organs.
