He was my absolute favorite chef ever. Apparently a suicide. Horrible. Heres ti a great chef, author, personality, bjj practitioner, and druggie.

Ditto holocaust, one of the greatest, no nonsense, brilliant chefs ever! I can't understand what makes a person want to commit suicide...

Don't know who he is. I have a hard time being empathetic to quitters of any kind. Be it in life or the dogs. Even more so to those who make it big and have money for damn near anything a person could ever want. I know I know, money don't buy happiness however it's a lot easier to cry in your jaguar than it is your jetta. Plus that cliche' phrase is just something poor folks like myself say to make not having it justifiable lol.

Too many people these days going out like that. It's the most selfish of acts. I'm that type of person that if someone in my family or good friends did that dumb shit, I won't be attending the funeral.....

    Everyone has problems.

I feel more sorrow for the family since all suicide does is end a single persons pain while passing it on to 10, 40, 1000, other people.

As cold as it sounds, they get no love from me......

We don't know if he was just diagnosed with terminal cancer and was saving his loved ones watching him waste away and die while not being himself or if he was on antidepressants that led to an out of character action... easy to pass judgement when you aren't living in their shoes.

Oh im not judging him. Not my place to. Was jm2c on suicide. Hell, i didn't even know of him to pass judgment. I leave that up to a higher power.

I did not walk a mile in his shoes yet still will always feel the way i do about the subject.

But like I said before, no reason why would ever make me think differently. Its never justifiable in my own mind.

2 years ago my uncle botched a 9mm round to the crani. My poor aunt and their daughter found him on the floor in their home. He lived but honestly, him and I ain't ever been right ever since. Honestly it made me think very low of him and I dont feel like that will ever change. Mostly i think it was all because of the pain he caused our entire family. I avoid him these days. I can forgive but i never forget.

My mindset is more inline with AGK on the subject. Although I don't feel it makes them a coward. I'd imagine it takes some balls to end your own life by yourself with all your thoughts.

As far as the terminal illness scenario, I feel it should be the law that if you and your family decide to end life it should be your right to do so as humanely as possible. To do so without your family's knowledge is pretty inconsiderate.

On the other hand who am I to tell anyone how to live or take their own life?

Suicide comes in many forms - different ages, different reasons, etc. It can be selfish or altruistic. It likely results from short term or long term feelings that things won't get better. A terminally ill patient may choose suicide to avoid continuous pain, and to save a large sum of money for their family that would have been wasted on simply keeping them alive. I would say that if you are considering suicide, that you should avoid quick decisions. Give some thought to it. Is there a chance yoully feel better? How will it impact other people? What method will you use? Here in OR, physician assisted suicide is legal. It requires a careful process. It is reserved for terminally ill people. One observation I have made is that botched suicide can people badly fucked up, yet still alive. Don't point a gun under your chin. You might blow your face off and still survive.
