Really sad to hear this news, particularly at such a young age by modern standards.

For those that don't know, his family of dogs was a very successful blend of Hank & Boomerang. By using strict criteria he created his own bloodline that competed with the best.

The dogs he used were known to be "Double Dead Game!"

Captain America will live forever, not just through the great dogs he created as a breeder, but more significantly through the greatness of the dogs that he brought to light as a competitor.

RIP Louie. I first spoke with Louie back around 1980, he was a tough competitor.

Damn nice to see success in different areas of life. Good ambassador of the breed. Not to say lots of great guys from everywhere. TO CAPTAIN AMERICA salute. Anyone know how the name came to be.

When I first got into dogs I used to scan through show reports in the Journal, seeking knowledge, but more importantly, searching for camps who were competitive... War Eagle, Tant, Gaines, Ozzie, Swat Team, Cooper, Dixie Line and others were names I associated with the kind dogs I wanted to own.. One that stuck out a mile was Captain America, he had so many shows, that just reading the journal, I almost felt like I knew him.. Few people outside the dogs understand that politics, opinions, race and religion don't even come into it! We're a community, a global family and losing Captain America who's work I've admired for years is like losing a good neighbour.. Rest in peace sir and I'll see you on the horizon.

Did he used to frequent dog forums and travelled to Europe to match, is that the right guy? I think he lost to Smart Kennels or something.
