This season the gnats and mosquitoes have been bad, worse than they've been in years. The dogs are protected from mosquitos but the gnats have been buggin em real bad, getting in their eyes and such. I was advised to put 7dust down but both of my dogs dig and both of em eat grass. Is Sevin Dust safe for them, will ingesting it hurt them?

    Thanks for any replies.

I don't know if it'll hurt them or not but I've seen plenty of old timers put it on everything from thier gardens, dogs, cattle, horses, to thier pants legs before going in the woods.

We have used fly spray for horses from TSC that has citronella in it . But we very seldom have problems even though the barn is about 60 yards from the yard and surrounded by horses and cows. I keep the yard sprayed with permethrine though.

There are 2 different strenghts 5% and 10% have used the 5% for years on dogs, ground and in ther houses I don't use the 10% anywhere they can come in contact with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into the fly spray and 5% 7dust. Just trying to be careful, because the pup puts her mouth on everything so I'm sure she will ingest a bit of whatever I use.

Has anyone used Spedtracide ortho Bug-B-Gone Max Granule? says its good for all purposes treating the ground, houses and a wide assortment of bugs including fleas and tics.. but i'm not sure if its dog friendly.

    i have used the ortho
put all the dogs away spread it around the entire yard before a good hard rain and haven't had any problems
also use sevin dust 5% in the dog houses without a problem

I actually just used Ortho Bug-B-Gone Max Granule, because it was on sale. We're in a drought so no rain, I had to water it, but it's fine and starting to work. But I also have Sevin Dust 5% to use in the kennel and chain spot, if the Ortho doesn't work out well enough.
