No sir I don't believe so. 31.5+5= 36-37+3= 39-40. 39-40 might be on the high end, I'll admit that. I'll stick wit that 5 or so. Depends on what you demand from your animals and what's available. Some start with a pushover, others start with a dragon. A strong 30s can be more powerful than a 40. At a certain age too much too soon goes out the window IMO. Depends on your animal also. Say you got a 32 that wrecks a 34 first time out. Would 5+ be too much next out then IYO? All for the sake of argument of course

I think pushing a lb or 2 is the max for me. Making everything fun and enjoyable is the way I play. If I'm having a good look I just add time. Imo no need to add any unnecessary wear and tear on my car without reaping the true benefits.

I see people ruin their car trying to prove their worth looking for something that that is not there. I always said that a individual will get better every time they step up to the plate. Allow them to grow and learn every at bat and don't expect to make the all star team right off the hop.
    Again that's just my opinion.

Nothing worse then raising one for 18mths - 2yrs then making a bad decision that ends the journey very quickly.

The gyp isn't a 31lber that's her chain weight, from the snaps I'd guess she's around 27/28 fit. Another thing to consider is her height to weight ratio, if she is 14" then she is a very short/stocky gyp for that weight class. I've a couple normal built gyps that weight and both are about 16".
As a guide I feel a dog in school shouldn't push more than 10% of that dogs fit weight. Dogs need to be managed, the idea being to educate and access if the dogs qualities satisfy ones self. Being impatient and pushing excessive weight isn't a good way to educate a dog. When similar weight is hard to find patience is a virtue.

A lb or 2 OTC isn't relevant IMO. That's even to me. If the quality of the bigger car isn't as high as the smaller car you still get about the same results as you speak. 10-20 min in a big car is better than 45+ in a little car to me. I would rather less time with equal or better results. If you can drive a bigger car, a car your own size won't be a problem. Most if not all cars cut weight to race. My 4,500lb car might cut to the same weight as your 4,200lb car and be naturally bigger/stronger in the first 60'. I like to run my cars hard to see what they have before I bet on street or track racing. ALL races can end in wreckage, it's the nature of pushing towards the limits. Racing should be fun no matter if the weights are equal or not, you're in control of the rules. Stop runnin your car if it runs too hot, blows a tire or 2, or just won't stay started. You won't always ruin one using more weight! Have to know what your car can handle IMO

You don't or shouldn't consider height to weight in competition IMO. What my charge can do at a certain weight is all I'm concerned about. I'm 5'7 14something in GREAT shape. If, and when I did, fight taller guys I used MY skill set to win. I could care less how tall they were, I knew what I could and had to do. Supreme confidence in myself, like any good dog should have. Better examples are Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson. Smaller fighter beating larger fighters their whole careers. Pacman too. I've NEVER seen or heard of anyone with a good dog not goin out because his dog was too short. Weight is the only factor that matters. Who calls out a weight and a height? That being said 10% of 28 is 2.8 or almost 3. 10% of a 50# dog is guess what???? 5lbs. As weight goes up so does the value of 10%. Use quality not numbers. In a test or schooling, IMO you want to put the animal in a position to grow AND see how much pressure it can take. Schooling and testing should not be easy, the hunt won't be. I understand and agree to bringin em on progressively, but I feel some ppl baby their charge to make themselves feel better. <<---NOT INTENDED FOR ANYONE ON THIS THREAD OR SITE, THIS IS A BLANKET STATEMENT. I'm an advocate of pushing weight.
