These dogs were fought all over the uk,particularly in heavy industrial areas, when the sbt club formed they were just refered to as bull n terriers,at the time near kc recognition, they had to think of a breed name, most breeds are synonymous with a particular area, and because the club was formed in and the dogs also so prevalent in the Black country of england, which was then in the county of staffordshire, the name they chose for the breed was the sbt.Even then there were different types in the different areas of just that one area, cradley dogs appeared different to wolverhampton dogs to walsall dogs etc etc. There is a photo of my grandfather with one of his dogs which appeared in edrd magazine about 20 odd years ago with one of his dogs the photo was actually off a post card and from either the 20s or 30s and he was a welsh miner.

Yes that name was given because those boys from that area must have set clubs up and really got in to showing their dogs.

Pit dogs of different types were matched all over the British Isles, I suspect the Blue Paul was just another of these types that was popular in Scotland.

Does any people think when the English Irish Welsh and Scottish pitdogs got sent to America in time do you think other breeds were added

  8. I dont personly...cant see the point in adding other breeds me self.
i can see the point in adding other breeds for say hunting or whatever..but not for the pit.

Then again nothings text book.some of these dogs you could cross to a goat and still get monsters.

I dont think nobody aimed or intended to add other breeds though.
