Rocky wasn't real??? But but but he ha-a-aad the eye of the Tiger, problem was his name was rock so he sunk in the pool real easy, lmao.

As for Clancy, she would wag her tail when she was getting killed like it was play time, to dumb to know she was even getting hurt, never got mad at anything in her life but would rip the sidewalls out of a tire to please... Shake it girl, good girl, bring me the tire, work now, lol

This thread turned out way more entertaining than I thought it would. I just want to say something to all the great dogmen posting. Before you go knocking the old timer's methods stop for a second and, good lord forbid, think. Some of those guys were ahead of their time and more than likely could out condition some of you modern day greats. I've read keep after keep. Sometimes the reasoning behind what they did is way off, but time and science has shown they were on to something. Mayfield with his crazy salt theory, Floyd with his inclination to hand walk, B Fife and weight training, all have been shown to be among the tools used by top conditioners. My opinion on swim keeps is I wouldn't waste my time unless it was just for pre-keep. I was on a swim team eons ago. My swimming career was cut short because instead of growing up I grew out. Football became my next love. I still kept swimming in the off season to keep in shape. Once two-a-days started I figured I would breeze through. My cardio was good, but guess what? That did not help me one bit when it came to performing the tasks required. Floating in water and exercising is completely different than exercising supporting your own weight. Some here will disagree because they are either just repeating what their hero told them or just suffering from a case of severe retardation. Who the hell thinks a dog swiming with his head out of water has significant pressure on his lungs from the water to make a difference? Also just because a dog did won on certain type of work does not, I repeat, does not mean the training was top notch. It just may go to show the dog was a great dog. If anybody is offended by my post then I know I hit home. You and Corkey have alot in common.

damn boy you been having you own dogs now what 1-2 years and you know all about the dogs and conditioning . the old guys help the young guys but you want get there soon . you were talking how bitches could'nt be better than male and put on the better show. and why would you want to see it. what they do is do some hard punishment . you just don't know what your talking about . remember the question about why your dog was shedding so much . what's was up with that . normal was'nt it .hell i don't know much about a pc but only a few things . but what i do know is the old guys put them in top shape with the right food and work . if you don't know what to feed and when to feed your going to have to give them supplements . and they don't need that stuff when you can get it through the feed . and they can put one in shape that someones going to have to out last them . and they can go for along awhile .and i'm not being mean . you've heard the old saying don't jump on a old man that knows what he's doing . they will break your arm and have you eating concrete . same with top conditioners . and yes you can put one in water but you need to have a reason for doing it . and know how to do it . then put them on the mill and bust their ass . and take them off and let them pee after 30 and then back on . you don't smiw 1 long and you need a Reason why your doing it . i'm just busting your ass for thinking dogmen in the late 70-80-90's can't hang with the new boys on the block .when you have a keep that is bad ass why the hell try to change 1 thing ?

I am a mill maker. and I sometimes swim a dog, in the start of the pre keep. I will stop swimming 3 weeks into the REAL keep. And yes walking does attract eyes, But I live back in the woods I took my tractor and cut miles of trials to walk dogs and sneek up on shit to shoot. So I dont think about that so much. but yes if you walk a dog find a good place. And teaching a dog to walk a mill is harder to do on some dogs some of the dogs I have will run that mill tilll there lungs blow out the ribs.so I have to walk them. I kinda agree with Iron mike on swiming a dog for a main stay is not a good idea, only do it to start him befor the main keep. I use a 12 week keep so in a way I dont even talk about 6 and 8 week keeps. those are warm up keeps to start burning the under fat. and you CAN NOT burn the underfat out swiming a dog. have you seena dog that was swim all the time. they look like they can use just a pound or two off still. thazt is couse there hart rate never got to the point and they never got good and hot. No only swim a dog Befor the keep. then he will come in ready for your keep. and I do agree 100% the two biggets parts of a good keep are good feed and good rest. I have seen a guy just walk nothing else feed well and smoke every one and he made 3 ch dogs and 1 grch off that hand walking but I also seen him have to go to the ER to get his crotch fixed lol he walked a rash so bad his skin fell off. Thats when I built him a cat mill. lol and not to change the post but yall want the truth the truth is NOTHING beats a catmill. NOTHING not swiming not a slat mill not walking NOTHING IS BETTER than a Catmill. Got it GOOD!

I think swimming can be a tool but not an entire keep.like mag said he had the cardio from swimming he just didn't do.his road work to build muscle endurance.I said it a.while ago in a thread and ill say it again.swimming helps build cardio and increases lung capacity.this could help the dog do.more land work. And ive only ever seen cold water cause congestion.

old goat, these kids have all the answers and know everything until they need some thing, then guess who they come to ask?

Triple J are u serious? You don't know how to take the fat out of a dog without swimming?
I noticed you said you stop swimming when you start the REAL Keep.
Why is that? Because it doesn't work!
BTW we all have used a cat mill, you want to jerk the front end out of a dog, that is a good thing to do it!
Stick with the mill, you are on the right track. Thou it looks just like TL and Wynn's mill.

Lets see now, I have over 100 keeps, I used everyone of them, I've used every one of them at least twice because I like to use a Keep on another dog to make sure I like it or not and often changed it up more then once on a third dog. So how many dogs would I have condtioned? @ least 300 or more. How about the rest of you? I have condtioned grand champions, champions and ROM dogs so mine is a prove track record, how about you?
You never put a dog through a Keep and not use the dog, you want it to know why he is in Keep, so how many would that mean I have seen?
Here is something you all need to know, how to work a dog has already been done many different ways, the only thing that changes are the supplements you use to bring them in on weight better. If what has been wrote here has hurt you kids' feelings, grow up and learn some thing while you have a chance and the access is still there.

    I agree Boogieman.
The point he makes about a dog winning do to a Keep doesn't have nothing to with it, is classic.
Case in point, 1 or the 2 best proven sons off Gr. Ch. Black Jack ROM was Ch. Hagler.
Here is the thing, the owner of Hagler never put him through a whole Keep. The dog was never more then 70% his best because the owner would lay down in the last three weeks of the Keep because he claimed Asma. I think it more of being just lazy. Point is, no matter what Keep you use and how much you try to screw a dog up, the great ones can still make it through to the end. :)

C2K mag did say he had good cario because he was a swimmer.he failed to do the exorcises associated with football.so I think it was a good tool.

  19. Dont get it wrong swimming is one of the better ways to go but in todays world u wont get the chance to see the results! b u t many years ago i seen with my own eyes not no shit i read) one of the hardest camp get beat on a swim keep my buddy lived by his swim keep had four swim tanks and did more winning the n losing! And if u swim have u ever notice how they breath in water then is they like to play catch u can give them a ball or stick! i also some times take the boys fishing and just swim with the hound! i do start them off with the water as puppy tho in the tub at 9weeks of age! hay not the keep for me b u t it does work!

and what are they??? 20 (somethin) & 0???? lol i rest my case.......

and im not sayin old timers dont know shit og, what im sayin is the times have changed. im sure oltimers fed raw back then also. but not all and i pointed out that crenshaw advocated pirina pro plan in his keep. maybe it was good food then......BUT ITS CRAP NOW, compared to other stuff you have available in todays day in age.........................................it is what it is...........................im sure that old RRC mill you got works great.............but guess what the got the dogtrotter now............im sure corn flakes was a great scource of fiber...........but guess what........they sell concentrated powder fiber at the feed store now...............

and i never said that bitches were weak n dont put on a good show.........WHAT I SAID WAS......i wouldnt advocate showin a female into a male, simply because testosterone levels are naturally going to be higher in the male, which IMO would put the female at a disadvantage...........considering you gotta good male that would grab anything........

and the fur shedding??? im just chalkin that up to his white fur, i dewormed..added omegas, i dunno what to make of that my other dogs aint like that......

and i never claimed to be a top shelf conditioner........but i DO KNOW DOGMEN THAT USE IT......AND IT PAYS OFF FOR THEM!

and i make more of a habit of believing what i see with my own eyes vs what a bunch of guys are sayin on the internet........so when i meet real life person that sets me straight instead of a fictional character on my computer, then maybe ill change my ways of thinking......until then.............
