Good luck with that. I mean of course the further North you get, the less a hurricane will affect you...but you are still going to get something.

    Whereabouts are you looking?

The closer to the water, the more you will be affected. I think.

  4. Either way you go....lived there for the first 25 years of my life. ITS A GREAT PLACE!
But the closer to the water the more the hurricane will affect you...but it has never been AS bad as other states...like LA, FL and such...Galveston gets slammed pretty hard a lot of times but over all.....not too terribly bad.

Now as far as the tornadoes go....LMAO....Texas is in the center of the US as is all states above it...It is called and considered to be Tornado Alley. Even if you find a town in Texas right now, that has never had a tornado hit...please believe that sooner or later one will! I have experienced 3 while I was there.
I will say this though, the farther west you go, the less likely that they will occur often, but still will happen...
    Good luck...
On a side note....if you dig up a little info on the death toll from tornadoes..there has only been a couple there that were devastating....and they were not close to each other.
IMO...OK has some of the worst tornadoes, I am sure Tx has more...but the others are worse.
Here, I though this might you out a little!

This link above here...make sure you read it completely....It is what I try to explain to my husband....(my legit reasong for moving back there :D)
On the right side of the graph..Texas is ranked number 1 for all lists of tornadic activities..but because of the size of the state....they had to measure by sq mile...and now the numbers have DROPPED significantly...from 1 to 16 and such...You can drop a few tornadic states in tx a few times....I think with size of TX vs where I live...on a ratio basis...there are just as many tornadoes here as there are there..... (meaning per sq mile average)

  5. Well many folks will have a hard trime believing this....
MA is ranked number 1 for tornado fatalities and injuries and for repair cost...vs TX:

I have lived in Texas all my life and have been lucky to never experience a tornado or anything disasterous. I live near houston so maybe that will help.

That does not mean they do not exist in Houston, but I personally have not been affected.
