Possibly only ! Maybe just their is a reason of record to keep it influential!

If you Bama are keeping it influential, then it becomes Bama's program.

There is no one that can replicate what the original Colby did, not even his kin. We all have a different set of eyes and brains.

You know for many years I know ADBA accepted registration with the Colby, Garner, Jim Williams and so on "name" as an accepted registered name. So if you bought a dog from Garner, you could name that dog Garner's X and you could also single register dogs with the original breeder of that line's name.

Example: I bred Garner's X to a bitch I bred I named Garner's Y, I then single registered Garner's Z. Garner did not make the mating, my influential decision did. How many generations of Colby dogs are this way? Countless!!!

Makes your last sentence stand out to me is my point.

How about I sell you dog x. You bred it to dog y you got from me. I name mine dog z. Or put it as dog z on peds because "well it's my blood"... seen that ALOT. taking credit for breeding someone else did with "your dogs" and taking credit for the accomplishments too. "Weve had 30 ch" but in reality you only bred 10 personally the other 20 were bred by other ppl out of your stock.

It's a long slippery twisted slope.

This is the true, which is exactly why one can not focus on anything of which they have not personally seen.

The original post of this thread was based on what Indian Sonny has seen. He is not discounting the Colby dogs that were used to influence a lot of more recent noted dogs. But being that the different Colby's bred differently as the generations progressed the product was no longer as originally kept. No two men's eyes are the same. CorvetteDex, I believe it was you who mentioned the more current Colby's had to change the breeding styles for their reasons.

So Indian Sonny was stating the truth as the evidence is clear in the performance aspect of the APBT today that the Colby dogs fall short in that particular aspect.

If you throw the required standards out of the window, no matter the bloodline, you'll loose it all.

It takes a lot to create a good bloodline, it takes a little to ruin a good bloodline.

Salute to the people who are trying hard to preserve all the different old bloodlines such as Colby to the true standard of the breed.

Both possible. Folks only born in 80 or greater cant be stuck.in a time they did not know..unless they were raised by folks that were.. family ties like they say.

Absolutely. I said that I agreed with most of what Indian Sonny's said. I want to ask a couple of honnest questions to the few folks on gamedog. 1st. Has anyone on here actually owned a pure Colby hound ? 2cd has anyone on here ever seen a pure Colby hound in person? I will tell you what I know to be true. OAs the oldest, purest line on the planet , Mr Lou, his son Jack, Only did a few breedings a year, and there was a waiting list, so unless you were a friend of the family, they were hard to get. Also they were expensive too. Going back to 2006, I was trying to acquire a pair. Females were 900.00 Males were. 700.00 That's a high price for a pup back in 2006 in still is today in my opinion. I actually got a pair right here on gamedog from a very good person and member "Lady Rampage" rip. She was a friend of the Colby family. Colby hounds are known to be extremely Deep game. Smart , athletic. Yet they lack mouth, That's the gospel as I know it. So I was taught that if we breed for Gameness 1st. The rest can be added. That's where a judicious cross can add more Punch .The Colby line being pure will freshen the genetic pool rather than polute. I still have a pure Colby bitch that I got from Lady Rampage. She will be 8 years old this November11th. She is an Honnest Bulldog. http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=333054 1007181729d-1.jpg
