    West Cornwall England.
    Hunter on fox, badger,hare,otter,seal.

    What is this?a book,dog? Not being a smart aleck I am just asking.
     
  3. I'm sure they used to call terrier men(and there dogs)Earth Stoppers...there is many old prints with the terrier man and his dog.and quite a lot of these prints are called "Earth stopper".....hope that helps?

    to block the earths before fox hunt , so fox can't go to ground

That's the one...to keep the hunt going on longer.or to keep the field happy.(and so they don't have to dig)..the terrier man would have to go round all the fox earths.and stop them up prior to the hunt..then when the hunt was over he'd have to go round and un stop them all....there many descriptions or art work on fox hunting.and there's many prints called "the old earth stopper"...or just "earth stopper"........
